Greetings!

I remember attending a game convention when I was in the Marine Corps. The game convention was awesome! Besides playing D&D, I set aside an entire day or two to play historical war-games like Third Reich. This giant map of Europe and Russia, and part of North Africa and the Middle East. Either side, if just two, or the Soviet Union as a third player, you built armies and controlled economies to fight a gigantic "What If" Grand Strategy war-game of Word War II. When moving about, I met this older man in the historical miniature war game area. Huge tabletop set up of entire French towns and forests during Normandy. Fortifications, forests, special hanging lights everywhere, besides beautifully painted miniature troops, vehicles, artillery, and tanks. The entire set-up was a real sight, and he was obviously a skilled and meticulous crafter, besides being a gamer.

This man was a black American, and a veteran of 25 years as a Master Sergeant in the United Sates Army. He was also dressed up, "Cosplaying" as a Nazi Waffen SS Officer. A Sturmbanfuhrer, I think. Boots, black uniform, the armband, a cocky officer's cap, he even had a *monocle*!! The belt, and a model holster an sidearm, Luger, of course. He looked fucking AWESOME. People were getting pictures taken with him. He was also a life-long historical war-gamer. The battle he and some friends played that day was EPIC! His friends were all veterans, too. He was awesome and so cool, too, explaining how the game was played, the rules, discussing history with people. Encouraging people around him to learn about war-gaming and history. A true gentleman, and an awesome person. Looking at him, fucking pussies like in the posted lead video would have a fucking stroke and fall out REEing hysterically. Fucking morons.

I guess for them, the US Army veteran and patriot, Cosplaying as a Nazi Waffen SS officer, must be an actual, terrible REAL NAZI, right?

Pathetic woke moron pussies like these people don't belong in our hobby. They need to be gatekept out, and kicked out, from our hobby, ruthlessly. They are too stupid, literally, to play historical war-games. Their pathetic attitudes also show that they are also very likely to be a serious danger to themselves and others. As I mentioned earlier, these people need to be locked up in Insane Asylums and pumped full of animal drugs. FOREVER.

You remember the game, Third Reich? It was all the rage at game conventions along with Advanced Squad Leader, of course. Back on those days, historical war games, if they were not a miniatures game, used painted map game-boards and small cardboard-like "Counters" to represent army divisions and such like, as well as air force squadrons, and fleets of ships. Such awesome games! I always felt torn between playing ASL or Third Reich; both games took many hours to play, typically, though they focused on similar topical content, the focus was different; Third Reich was strategic, while games like ASL were tactical. ARRRGGHHH!!! *Laughing*

Nowadays, I play HOIIV. Pretty much the evolution of Third Reich into a computer game that covers the entire world at war.

Yes they infiltrate and eventually assert dominance. What they do is basically a powergrab - once they're in a powerful position they shut down everyone they don't like and smear them with slander and libel. In fact, they just a bunch of lying coward bullies, and they must be smoked out and attacked at every opportunity.

I'm sorry, I'm not into historical wargaming so I don't understand the significance of wanting or not wanting to play fictional depictions of nazis. I've played zerg in starcrap, so I can definitely say that I don't believe your choice of side in a game reflects on you as a person. I've seen SJWs spout pseudo-psychology bullshit about how your writing and creative choices accurately reflect on you as a moral agent, and I call bullshit. Your creative output might offer insight into your subconscious, and particularly into your intelligence and education and life experience or lack thereof (because obviously you need those to write well), but that's a far cry from being able to accurately psychoanalyze someone. Not to mention that people are capable of self-awareness, change, curiosity and imagination. While many people definitely write their twisted sexual fantasies, others write because they're interested in exploring a premise or theme.

I'm personally not interested in wargaming because I grew up on RTS games like Red Alert and Command & Conquer, but I can definitely say that playing the bad guys doesn't mean you hold their views in real life. I'm not a communist and I don't worship Tiberium.

As a wargamer myself, I can only say that what side you play does not matter in terms of personal ideologies or politics. It's just a different learning experience playing different sides. The games are interesting as a simulation of a historical battle, as is often the case. Be it Rome vs. Carthage, Allies vs. Nazis, Boer wars, Zulu wars, Napoleonic wars or something entirely different.

They're mostly played to learn about strategies and tactics, assymetrical warfare and also as "what if" scenarios - even managing baggage trains in historical battles is a great and important learning experience in logistics and timing. Some might express a historical interest in a specific period - strictly from a research perspective, that does not mean they celebrate killing other people.

The issue with these woke dimwits is they more often than not mix up fantasy with reality, as they themselves often adopt a fictional identity, they assume others do exactly the same. So for them playing the nazis means you are a nazi, enjoying Lovecraft games or stories make you racists (unless you put up a public disclaimer for them and everyone else to see). It is, obvious to most, a ridiculous and infantile viewpoint not unlike claiming that the DM is a monster, just because he "plays" the monster.

Well put. I'm sure some wokie had made that argument somewhere.

I realize this forum is mostly made up of Americans but you need to understand that upper class wankers like Midwinter Minis are a completely different kind of human being from normal working class people who just want to play some games. They do not represent me, anyone I know or my country. I disavow this idiot completely. I'm sure this is in some way part of his subconscious need to stick it to his parents. That's always the way with upper class twits. They all have some kind of trauma from their parents also being upper class twits. You'd be surprised how that manifests itself with these people.

IMO the dude's been fine up until now. He's a typical 40k nerdo sharing his painting videos and whatnot.

I didn't watch the videos but sounds like they (Midwinter Minis) walked straight into this mess.

When people start virtue signaling about games, I just like to say: IT'S A GAME FOR GOD'S SAKE. What's the point if you can only do things you can do in normal life anyway? Including walking on eggshells around people's feelings?  I'm a bit of hardliner in such things.

"...and more reaons why I gave up all historical and faux-historical gaming"

I think that one of the reasons why fantasy/sci-fi gained so much popularity is escape for crazy real-life politics.
But sadly this craziness followed the players and now is screaming "orcs are black people! goblins are jews! If Your character is fighting them or if you are depicting them negatively, YOU ARE FASCIST!!!".
