This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Despite reading a few reviews which never really gave me a "players" eye view of this cheaper alternative to World of Warcraft, what are the main issues players have against this online game.

What other online games do people recommend for casual online RPG gaming that doesnt require a monthly subscription etc...

I don't really have anything against Guild Wars, other than you can't "jump" so your character is always sorta glued to the floor and you have to figure out a route to get from point A to point B as part of the game.

GW is an excellently designed game, that sorta throws out the concept of levelling. You can hit the max level (20) fairly early in the game. The real strategy is in how to use your abilities together.

So the real "game" of GW is in adventuring to unlock these special abilities and finishing off these missions, some of which are scored or timed or whatever. It's a totally different thing than World of Warcraft. Its hard to compare. GW is sorta like a single unit RTS re-worked as an MMO.
