This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Here have fun with this insanity.

By the way dexterity is this games dump stat. 100 points is ridiculous when your trying to make a character. I would make it like equal to agility to make it fair.

Quote from: TristramEvans;638818wow, lots of posters with only one post come to tell us about how AWESOME this game is. That doesn't send up warning signs AT ALL.
Heh, it would help whoever is trying to pimp the system to try and go for something more than
"I love this game! Seriously, it gives you so much freedom of gameplay, it's great. I wish I could get in on another game soon now that its out of beta (finally)"
That is the basic statement they use on every(from what I've seen) site that mentioned the system.

I still don't understand what you're getting out of this.

okay. So what is the dice mechanic behind this game?

Sommerjon

Quote from: TristramEvans;639522okay. So what is the dice mechanic behind this game?

Well there seems to be an interview from some place called Initiative: Tabletop with the game creator 'Infinity'

QuoteI:T) Since "The Future Belongs To Us" uses a new dice system, could you explain to our readers how the DiceLite system that the game utilizes works?

I) Sure. The most important factor in determining how difficult an action is to perform is how the player describes what he is trying to do in relation to the story. When performing feats that heavily utilize the use of your senses, or physical feats that require speed and coordination, you roll the twenty sided die and add it to either a Proficiency or Attribute rating. Proficiencies are just specializations of the base Attributes and are completely optional. Knowledge's, Skills, and some physical feats do not require a die roll, though they may be used in conjunction with a Proficiency such as "Sleight of Hand" in certain cases when every second counts. Based on many situational modifiers, the GM determines how well you succeed and how long it will take you. There are much more complexities to the DiceLight system, but those are the fundamentals.

I am unable to believe this is anything other than a massive troll. The well executed grammatical errors in every single promotional post are definitely worth bonus points too.

I give it a 3/5.

It's a Cyberpunk 2020/Cybergeneration-esque MicroLite-ish hack where the players do all the rolling.

I mean, kudos for heartbreaking something that isn't another bloody fantasy trilogy, but I'm still yawning.
D&D is becoming Self-Referential.  It is no longer Setting Referential, where it takes references outside of itself. It is becoming like Ouroboros in its self-gleaning for tropes, no longer attached, let alone needing outside context.

I got a review copy and wrote a review of it. It's nothing really to write home about, but has some really bad art.

It sounds really bad, but it also sounds like it's standard RPG stuff and shouldn't be in the "Other Games" forum.  (I read it just to add an entry to my encyclopedia.)

The interior art in the book makes my eyes bleed. Looks like they blew the art budget on the cover art.

So, Cyberpunk got it's own Synnibarr.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Apologies if its there and I'm just illiterate, but whats the core mechanic of this thing?
The attributes on all different scales is quite Synnibarrean, but how are they managing one core mechanic with that, different modifier tables?

Jack P

Don't listen to that guys bullshit review. All the rolls use the same scale. 10 is average.

That's the thing. Right there. An honest and pretty fair review goes up, that doesn't snark quite as much as it could and suddenly the players and supporter of these kinds of games jump to its defence. Even though 99% of the time they are too busy with real life to post on web forums.

This reminds me of something else, but it is just not worth getting all worked up about. Shut up, take on board the criticisms and grow.
I play these games to be entertained... I don't want to see games about rape, sodomy and drug addiction... I can get all that at home.
