XBox Live Arcade has some great games on it, what games have you been playing and why?

Latetly I've been playing Castle Crashers because I'm a massive River City Ransom fan and this game is easily the closest thing to a fantasy RCR available.  I've also been eyeing up Samurai Showdown 2 because it's easily my favorite from the series.  I'd have to invest in a couple arcade sticks if I did though.  Damn XBox D-Pad.

Geometry Wars is a constant favorite.  I didn't care for the sequel, though.

Age of Booty is a new fave.  Only time will tell if it has longevity.

Other really good ones are:

Pac-Man Championship Edition
Pinball FX
Jetpac Refuelled
Puzzle Quest (although I tend to play it on my PSP instead)
Omega V

Puzzle Quest, though I play it more on my DS
Hexen HD
Settlers of Catan
Carcasone
Ticket to Ride
AccidentalSurvivors.com : The blood will put out the fire.

I'm a huge fan of the Geometry Wars games. I'm in the top 1% of players on the High Score list.

Castevania: Symphony of the Night is an excellent game. It's basically super metroid Metroid with vampires.

Castle Crashers is pretty fun, with a group of drunk people.

I also recommend Braid. It's a simple but incredibly well put together puzzle platformer.

I played Geometry Wars pretty heavily when I first got my 360.  Also bought Symphony of the Night as soon as it came out, I've played that game so many times through the years and it never gets old.

I've been eyeing up Braid just haven't got around to buying it yet.  Hm, perhaps I'll have to grab some xbox points before I go home from work.

Ghost Whistler

i'd love to see more board games and stuff, because there' sno fucking way i'm paying £10 for crappy old arcade games that cost less when they first came out!
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Excuse my old age, but... is this something you can do with a standard XBox, or is the 360 called for to play Settlers, Carcasone and TtR?

you'll need a 360 and an internet connection.

X-Box Live Arcade is the virtual storefront on the 360 you use to buy these games. The graphics are fully 3-d and internet multiplayer is fully supported. You can also play local multiplayer.
