This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Fate -- Diablo 1.5? Or 2.5?

Well, I just got my new computer and it had a little taskbar 'games' thingy on it. And I saw a game called 'Fate'. I liked the little graphical guy so I tried it out.

It's amazingly fun, but it's basicly Diablo with cuter graphics. Anyone else playing this?

I dunno.  I got the impression it was more Darkstone + Pokemon.

Honestly though, I have never bothered to try it, as I do not use WildTangent software.

Never felt the need to intentionally install spyware on my own computer.

I actually had to look that up. Wild Tangent games aren't actually spyware.

Although they used to come up that way on certain spyware finder type programs.

This came already installed though, because it's an HP computer.

Wild Tangent says they aren't spyware.

That doesn't mean jack shit, nor does it mean I have any reason to believe them.

My wife has been - she enjoyed the original diablo, and she finds Fate to be a lot of fun.  I haven't tried it yet myself.

The socketed weapons/armor/stuff: where you can stick a gem in there and get extra powers- seem right out of Diablo 2

But the single town/single multi-layered dungeon seems like Diablo I. Also, I could swear they re-use some of the same theme music.

Thats why I think it's kind of a mix.

I like it because you can really get "lost" on a dungeon level, like go really really deep, and pretty much be wandering around looking for exits. Also each dungeon level has it's own look.

Anyhow, just thought it was a cute 'roguelike' game, for a random dungeon type thing.
