just got an offer from white wolf for a free trial.  think it'll run okay on a dial-up connection?  

when i tried WoW that way it came to a crawl if i went to darnassus.  elsewhere  on teldrassil, it wasn't too bad.  but that's 'cause a friend says tel. is the least populated part of the world. . . .

I dunno...but since you have a free trial...you should at least TRY :)

It's a very excellent MMO, my favorite of the bunch.

Well, you might be able to do alright in some of the less popular regions, but lag is a major issue, particularly if you want to do any (and I mean ANY) pvp.

Stay away from Caldari space and particularly Jita... 700+ people in one system causes unholy hell with lag issues, and I use digital cable.

In short: It's possible, but you won't get as much out of the game as you might with a better connection.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

it's not too . . . how should i say. . . graphics-needy, is it?  i don't have a super system, and looking at some of the art it may overly tax my machine.

oh well, it is free.  i should give it a go this weekend and see, anyway!

It depends. My system is somewhat dated and ran it fine. A really dated machine? Hell no. Not unless you want to float in space doing nothing but mining. All the fun stuff, i.e. kicking ass, might be screwy on a weak system.

Personally, I love EVE. As lame as it sounds, there were times I'd just warp from sector to sector just to look at the cool nebulae while listening to it's dope trance/ambient soundtrack. Then I'd get shot to hell my fucking space pirates, but that's for another tale.

I hope you can run it. It's a fun game.

so much for that!

the initial download is about 630 MB.  with my dial-up connection that's probably 2 days to finish.  not gonna happen.

oh well, it was nice of them to send me the invite. . . :(

I played many mmorpg on dial-up and they usually run pretty good. The problem is when you try to raid or go to a crowded area. But if it's only for normal group/questing, it went pretty good for me in EQ1, EQ2 and WoW.

EVE is something you can do on a dial-up. I think you're going to be struggling with the graphics, though.
