This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Recent NWN-ish Games?

What's out there? Must be bunches of LAN multiplayer fun for two people, and mustn't have the system requirements of NWN2. Can be recent or a few years old and must be as D&Desque fantasy as possible.

Fuck all.  Welcome to the world of CRPGs.

The old Icewind Dale games, and I thing baldur's Gate II, has support for co-op multiplayer.  You might try those.  The Dungeon Siege and Diablo series have co-op, though are of course, definitely onthe hack-and-slash side (though there's is a very badass Ultima V mod for DS).

That's it?

That is it???

I've played all of these, but I thought people had, like, moved on in the past five years??? Well, I guess they did, to WoW.

I don't get it. NWN was a great game, hugely successful, and with so much potential for even greater and equally successful ones. Again and again we would try something new and then return to it. There are so many truly awesome user-created NWN adventures out there.

Tendency tends to be that for non-Diablo/Rogue clone type games, multipalyer just isn't a consideration at all.

So these days, it's either diablo and friends like titan Quest, digging up more user mods for NWN, or going MMO.  Or somewhere in between, like the Phantasy Star games.

It is kind of a bummer, as I had craptons of fun running Hordes with my buddies, but really, there just isn't much co-op RPGness out there.

Give the hardware and the modding community time to catch up with NWN2, and it might get a little better, but the increased barrier of entry for mod devlopers will likely leave it never having quite the same userbase.

I was all about NWN2 until the new patch came out and fucked the camera settings. I'm too lazy to uninstall and reinstall just to fix it. So yea, I'd like to see more games like that too. Something with a great map/module editor and decent graphics. Ah, to wish...

Yep.  I'm also waiting for a really good multiplayer RPG.  MMOs are just a poor substitute.  I did just pick up The Witcher, a single player RPG, which I quite like.  Still, I'd much rather find something I can play with my friends...

the CRPG genre has definitely been struggling, especially since the isometric gameplay (fallout, planescape torment, bladurs gate) is archaic and tired. i really want to see how the new fallout is going to turn out (developed by bethesda) but Oblivion was horrible so I'm not very optimistic.
