Hi guys,
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Raj and I'm the lead developer at Wave Light Games, who are a small indie company in Canada that is focussed on creating turn-based tactical RPG's.
We have a new game coming out this Thursday (August 20th) for iPhone and iPad and I'd like to showcase it here and answer any questions you may have. Demon's Rise is a tactical RPG similar to XCOM where players must focus both on building up their party but also on how they use terrain and cover during combat. An encounter is fought on a hex-grid battlefield with lots of cover positions, collectables, magic / health boosting areas and so forth and using these positions is key to success.
Here are some highlights:
- 24 playable character classes including unusual characters like Steel Golems, Walking Cannons, Skeleton Champions as well as the usual RPG archetypes.
- An in-depth story spanning 67 levels where players take the roll of a mercenary band fighting alongside a dwarf army that is trying to retake an ancient, underground city.
- Gameplay focusses on tactical RPG encounters and less on exploration or grinding. It is designed for mobile so playing a level is typically a 10 to 20 minute activity.
- Thousands of magic items to find and equip to your characters. Each character has 13 equipment slots and a backpack. Characters also level up and unlock new spells and skills as they gain experience.
- Complex morale system where characters and enemies can panic or go berserk if they are surrounded by hostiles or if they see an ally cut down.
