This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

D&D Miniatures Lately
« on: July 23, 2007, 10:20:24 AM »
We are officially in between campaigns, as my game has reached the end of it's main plot. Two players have gone on vacation and we are all getting ready for GenCon...

So there's kinda not enough time to really start a campaign (although kinda) and I am taking a rest as a GM for a while. Although playing City of Heroes lately makes me want to run Mutants and Masterminds.

For the last two sessions we have been playing a D&D Miniatures tournament:

I'm 1 and 1. Which puts me in 2nd place out of the 4 players.

My first 200 pt. battle was my Lawful Evil warband (led by a dark naga and a Kobold sorcerer). It included both a green dragon and a greenspawn razorfiend, as well as a small band of kobold warriors and mongrelmen (my favorite mini right now are mongrelmen. Theyre only 3 point figures, but I love the way they look). We went up against a chaotic evil warband that had a lot of swarms - rat and spider swarms. They kinda hosed me for a while, and I have to say, being poisoned totally sucks in DDM. But in the end I prevailed!

My second skirmish (also 200 pt) was a chaotic good warband (led by a Hierophant from the Underdark set and a Cleric of Sune). This was divided into two squads- the Hierophant commanded an air mephit, mephling pyromancer, and a monitor lizard. The cleric commanded a wand-expert, dragonblade ninja, and hmm. I'm forgetting who else.
This was against Joel's Lawful evil beholder band. I lost this one, but it was close at the end. Joel actually studies each miniature before putting it in his band, so I was kinda at a disadvantage since I tend to take miniatures that "look pretty" and then look for synergies and tactics in the cards.

Anyhow, in this case, we played on one of the maps from Hellspike Rift or whatever it was. There's a wall of smoke in the center of the map that kinda shut down the damn beholder for a while. I managed to bring my ninja over to  the victory area late in the game, and then got zotted down by lightning from his Dark Naga.

Anyone else playing DDM? Let me know..!
