This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Howdy! Anyone here plays Crowfall?

It's a MMORPG that mixes elements of strategy, survival and MMO in a medieval fantasy setting. The total funding for the game so far is nearly $30M and with 330,000 registered users it should become quite popular. The founders of the studio are J Todd Coleman (Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101) and Gordon Walton (Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Sims Online), with Raph Koster as consultant.

Described as "Game of Thrones meets EVE Online", the game has a strong emphasis on economy, politics, diplomacy, crafting and war. Certain worlds are permanent while others - the campaigns - will end after some victory conditions are met. After which the players return to their personal map to organize for the next campaign.

Alpha is set to begin early 2020 and will feature a bunch of new systems: caravans, mounts, refineries, GvG campaigns, city advancement, remaining class and disciplines, etc.

Since summer the game has entered Closed Beta and it's free to try for anyone interested.

Lot of improvements over the last year : character advancement additions (domains, attributes, Shadowbane-inspired class design), performances improvements, the Frostweaver class (11 classes & 12 races), passive training replaced with a more active training (gear based), caravans, refineries, mounts, etc.

The studio has wiped all progress on the servers, so it may be a great time to join in to ensure equal footing.

Warning : Crowfall is full of gruesome stuff such as necromancy, grave digging, decapathon, gods' sacrifices, etc. so it may not suit everyone.

Here's a video showing some medium-scale PvP:
