This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Cooking Mama is totally fun.

I just got this the other day because I saw it used for under $20. I had seen it mentioned in some Japanese article and I thought to myself "I hope they do a US version of that.."

Basicly you have a list of things you can make, and each recipe is divided up into minigames (ala WarioWare). So for 'boiled rice', first you have to play the 'fill the water but not too much' game, then you play the same game but you fill it with rice. Then you have to do a rhythm game where you wash the rice by stirring it at a speed where it gets into a green zone. Then you do a speed game where the game gives you a time to enter on the rice cooker and you have to enter it quickly. When your;e done, they add your score for each minigame and you get an overall score.

Eventually the recipes get really complicated, and you can also combine them and make variation recipes. Also the minigames are a lot of fun. I love chopping vegetables and especially making gyoza (dumplings) so far.  Supposedly there's over 200 minigames.

The graphics are very cute and have a juicy, pixelly look to them.

Anyhow, very fun little game for the Nintendo DS.

There will be a Wii version of the game called 'Cooking Mama: Cook Off sometime in 2007!
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)
