I got it, did you?

Any good? All I've seen is some advanced reviews and talk about the import version, not exactly solid info to go on. I was considering it. I've been looking around for Endless Oceans, I was intending to get that for the kids first. But nobody has it in stock.

Well, let's just say that it's a very pick up and play 4 player party fighting game featuring all of your favorite Nintendo characters. Oh and Solid Snake...and Sonic the Hedgehog. You win by knocking other characters off the stage (kind of ike Sumo Wrestling now that I think about it.)

It's absolutely insane in how the battles go. All the characters control very close to their original 2d counterparts (i.e. Kirby plays like Kirby does in Kirby games, Samus plays like Samus) and every character has a pretty unique strategy and feel  while playing them.

Cross that with the levels, which are characters into themselves. For example: theres the Zelda bridge level which is one LOOONG flat bridge, except when an orc passes by and blows a big hole in the center. Or the Spear Pillar stage where the epic Pokemon from the last game mess with Space and Time as you are fighting (reversing the screen, slowing/speeding time...exploding parts of the stage etc.)

Combine that again with weapons (which range from SNES superscopes to Pokeballs) and you have an idea of the complete madness every match is. If you pick up a lightsaber, your character then has some lightsaber specific moves he can do, if you pick up a land mine, you can lay it down and laugh when it explodes your buddy into outer space.

It's a great game, and ultimately a love letter to the great Nintendo games of yore.

I've played a few hours of it on the Game Cube at a friend's place [some years back]. I never owned a Game Cube but if I had I likely would have gotten the title. I was just wondering how this version stacked up.

Gameplay is almost exactly the same, except there's almsot no "clone characters". They've differentiated the previous games clone characters, so Fox, Falco and Falcon have different movesets, same with Roy and Marsh. They've added some very interesting new players (like the Poke'mon trainer, who switches between 3 different pokemon at will, who have different strengths and weaknesses) the graphics run in 480p and are super crisp. A slight upgrade visually, but the game runs at a constant 60fps no matter what's happening onscreen.

It's a lot of fun.  I don't find it mind blowing by any means.  But when the gangs all here, you can't go wrong.

Yup.  Its a blast.  Reaffirms my love the Kirby, the cute pink little bastard.  Snake Kirby may be the cutest thing ever.

And the Adventure Mode game is quite deep, and a lot of fun in a platform-y way, intersperced with Smash Bros style battles.

Played this for the first time last night, found it lots of fun. My friends haven't unlocked Solid Snake or some of the other cool characters, but there's definitely some power displacement going on there - Kirby, for example, is a complete badass. Warior and Bowser both seem to punch outside the nominal weight level, too. Overall, though, an awesome beer & pretzels game for hanging out with friends. ^_^
