I played this game at a friend's house yesterday, and it seemed very good. Anyone else has it? :cthulhu:

I do.  It's OK for a straight XBox port; the support fora for it suggest that it's got more bugs than a Looney Tunes marathon and that an official patch will never come because the developer went out of business before the 'port was complete.

That said, it's pretty good so far, but I took a break at The Big Chase Scene because it looks really involved and potentially frustrating, and I gotta be in the right mood for that to be fun.

Oh and the voice acting is pretty meh, but the main character's voice -- deadpan all the time.

One thing's for sure: very, very immersive.

The big complaint is that past a certain point in the game, it becomes much more arcadey and falls into the standard FPS bits: running, gunning and jumping; as well as the survival horror-like save and reload method of exploring.  Except you're a lot weaker, weapons are a lot weaker, you can't jump very far and reload times are long.

I liked the game but after a while I put the controller down and never finished it.  I'm tempted to restart on the easy level, just to see how the story pans out (though if you know anything at all about Lovecraft, which is probably everyone on this board...you pretty much know how the story pans out).

I decided to snag a copy today, and played it for a while.

Not impressed, unfortunately.  I want to love this game and it has many, many cool elements.  It's just not very good, I'm sorry to say.  I suppose I have unrealistic explanations - that it should give me some, I dunno, choice or options in what to do and where to go.

I'm also dissatisfied with save points.  If they're going to throw long (albeit cool) cutscenes in, they should let me save my game so I can avoid them next go-round.

This game has been on my scope since it was released, but for some reason I haven't got it yet, most likely I'll be getting it on the next few weeks 'cause next  week I'm gonna get a new graphics card, and since this game it's kinda demanding it seems like a good idea to wait untill I get enough horsepower to enjoy it in max graphics.

I'm getting increasingly disenchanted with it. :)  That isn't stopping me from playing it, mind you - it does have a whole lot of cool aspects - but having to completely re-do long sequences without an ability to save really grates on my nerves.

I feel you one of the things that I hate the most, is when good games have that horrendous feature of not letting you save whenever you want, as an example that was one of the reasons Hitman codename 47 wasn't the great game it could've been, luckily that was fixed on Silent Assasin(7 saves per mission where a lot better than just one)

Total agreement.  I played it with some friends sometime back and we could pinpoint the very moment that the game turned from atmospheric horror to halfassed FPS.  Heartbreaking waste of potential.

We'll always have that first third, though...
