There's another CoD already? I guess it's doing well, then. It feels like the last one just came out.

They have a pretty good counter going on it, giving a lot of pretty self gratifying statistics. The first night it had stuff like, "Amount spent on Black Ops so far = GDP Ireland. Total Kill Count = .08% total World Population.

Pretty funny.

I've tried it. The campaign pisses all over that crap that passed for a story in MW2 even though it doesn't make muchs ense so far.

But the online...oy vey do these fucking idiot developers ever really listen before flapping their gums and jerking themselves off over how smart they are? The hit detection is a joke. The unlocks/rewards are really unbalanced (new to the game? good luck!). The contracts are a great idea turned into shit by requiring you to be really fucking good at the game in order to make your money back. Assault Rifles don't do shit.

And again, because Activision refuse to pony up for the kind of dedicated server setup EA routinely use (without charing 10% extra for their games either) there is the customary lag. Yet a-fucking-gain. Yes, you can again experience the joy of emptying a full clip into some random uber-ranked nerd's belly only to find that they only need to look at you and down you go. Fucking ridiculous. What will they do about it? Fuck all I imagine; like pretty much every game developer on the market. Once that baby hits the shelves, its off to the bank or, if you're the cunt that designed (and I use the term loosely) gears of war, it's off to parade around and show off while stroking your ego to any dumb game journalist that will listen.

Oh and if i want to call a custom class 'assault' then i shouldn't be prevented to because it's, get this, a profanity!

War never changes.

See, all the complaining about lag is why I play it on X-Box. I didn't realize until recently how little the market is PC compared to consul. We don't have to worry about hardly any lag or any of that.

I agree about the contracts. Most of them I can't do because they require specific weapons I don't want to unlock. As far as it not being friendly to noobs, I'm not sure how many of them really play it. I think it is pretty much a part of the culture to already be decent at this game. Even so, I know why they did it that way, it makes for great sales of the strategy guide.

Besides, anyone who can afford to play it online can go look up what's good on the net, and you can always see what other people are killing you with, or just ask on the mic what people think of different unlocks. Everyone has to do that. I unlocked the Aug based on testimony, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Indeed many people playing have had at least 3 years of CoD training. I have played those games, but not consistently like these guys.

The issue is the killstreak system: it's good fun - when you get them. The problem is it rewards the raly good players at the expense of the really bad players. Lag just exacerbates this, and i play on the xbox and it lags noticeably. You can tell this by watching what happened in the killcam where you see the guy knife you even though when it happened you didn't see hime move at all. This happens constantly.

Using your mic online is either a waste of time or an invitation for abuse. 99% of players are partied up and so they use that fucking stupid party chat mode whcih should never have been allowed. Thus i get put on the opposing team with the rest of the low ranking scrubs while the team that's consistently 30 levels higher, all working together, win time and again. That's just wrong. It even happens in mercenary mode.

I agree with you on the first two points. On the last point, sense I'm one of the guys with a winning team, I love.

Matchmaking and hosting is a complete farce. Constant lag, takes forever to find players (!) and constantly tries to migrate host, Locale Only seems to ignroe the fact I dont' live in Spain or the US, the hit detection is fucking absolutely bollocks.

I think your hit detection problem is due to your lag problem. You need to lead them a little more (;

When your connection is on point, there shouldn't be a problem.

unfortunately the game has dreadful connection problems. Again the CoD developers didn't bother to test. Treyarch said they were listening and made all the right noises but - again - it's bullshit.

But even so, there are some issues with the weapons that are beyond the usual shitty CoD hosting/matchmaking (nearly every match has had constant host migration to the point of collapse). The hit boxes are wonky this time around.
