QuoteThis is 1/285 scale and god we hope for the love of all it is easy to build unlike the failed we shall not name other Robotech miniature series.

:D I'm far more interested in these than the Palladium kickstarter disaster because, y'know, it's not Palladium.

So minis but no rules to play them? Is there a good system that these can be used with (and not the Palladium one or BattleTech please)?

I'm personally a fan of Mekton.

What scale of battle are you using Mekton for? I recall using it for small skirmishes with < 10 units per side, but when I think of a Robotech battle, I think of dozens of units on each side. BattleTech would take an eon to play out anything bigger than company-level fights (12 mechs per side). Can Mekton handle a few dozen units per side is a reasonable time and with low bookkeeping?

Oh hell no. Mekton is a shade less complex than Battletech, but not by much. I don't know what I'd use for something like dozens of combatants, but I'd look into some kind of wargame and not an RPG.

Savage Worlds could do 2 dozen Mechs / units in combat via a RPG.

I've done a dozen mechs in a battle using ROBOT WARRIORS which was the Hero Games' Mech RPG based on Champions 3e. That worked excellently, but its because Robot Warriors combines RPG with wargame concepts. Unlike later Hero, the early edition has short-ish chargen. I could easily create a Mech in 15 minutes and battles were both intense and relatively fast.

Mekton has two mass combat systems, each intended for different sized battles:

Mekton Fleet Battles is the centerpiece of Mekton Wars 1 - Invasion Terra.

Mekton Z: The Movie is included in the Mekton Zeta Tactical Display.

Of the two, Mekton Fleet Battles is designed for battles with hundreds of mecha on each side, which covers Robotech nicely.

Ah. I never did Fleet Battles when I was playing. I stand corrected.

Considering that Fleet Battles is buried in Invasion Terra*, there's no error in not being aware of it, or remembering it offhand.

*an excellent mecha wargame campaign in its own right, with potential to be used for an RPG campaign as well.

I'm surprised these guys didn't do a Kickstarter for their Robotech minis game!
