Interesting video. For me it bordered on the horror-film genre, particularly the scene with the worms being shoved into the character's eyes. I hope the game will have the same epic feeling that BG 1 and BG 2 had. It sounds good to me that the game will feature turn-based combat, just like my game Knights of the Chalice 2 (please see the Kickstarter campaign to be launched on 26 May).

Will it be an early access or a full release, any ideas?

It will definitely be in early access, that's been announced.

How long I don't know, but D:OS2 was in ea for one year.

The real question is, why were Illithids on Ceti Alpha V?
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Clearly they were creating genetically superior super soldiers. Duh.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

Color me impressed. Looks much better than original BG games already: true dialogue trees with actual stats checks, turn based combat, interactive environment. Good.

They also got rid of the somewhat awkward *dialogue system with indirect sentences* - it never bothered me much in D:OS but I know quite a few people didn't like it.

I'm still not sold on the game yet.

We've only seen scripted story threads with predetermined characters. The thing I loved about BG is I could make my own character and go where-ever I wanted. Seems like they are going railroad heavy to me with set characters and set paths. Both BG games started that way, so maybe the world opens up. We'll see.

It also looks way too clean... Everyone, even the damn goblins, look like they just stepped out of wardrobe for some C-grade, overly costumed and styled cheese-fest.
