This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Despite the squealings out of touch tech-writers and perennial basement dwellers real life doesn't happen on the internet.

True that.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Quote from: Shipyard Locked;736473There's an increasing number of assholes on the internet who insist that not only do classics die but that they were never true classics to begin with and you are objectively wrong to have liked them. They will then go on to prove their point with a 3000-word essay / 30 minute youtube video debunking each "flaw" in turn.

I hate the modern internet.

To be fair, there's a same number of folks who attack Bioware's output today without looking at all the accomplishments made in the field since 1999 and think nothing ever has surpassed Baldur's Gate, and are bitter that games "aren't what they used to be".

I think Bioware gets a bad rap.  A rushed sequel to Dragon Age and Mass Effect 3 having a weak ending and people act like their parents just died.

With Bioware it's the context of EA that matters.  They get bought out by EA, then Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 cut down roleplaying elements in favor of action gameplay, Mass Effect 3 speaks for itself, and you see much the same from Mythic fans after they got bought out by EA as well (and now merged under Bioware).

All the Sturm Und Drang comes from the fear that they've been assimilated and formulaic "brand" games influenced by whatever corp stooges are calling the shots this year are all the fans have to look forward to.

To be fair, Bioware's latest releases aren't helping dispel that fear.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar
