This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just wanted to recommend a nerdy on the edge of LARP game that I discovered this week:  Artemis Starship Bridge Simulator.

Basically one computer runs the server and the main screen.  Then several more (e.g.six) connect as specific bridge stations.  As a crew you then run missions.

I did all the technology research last night and found the game to be very, very compatible.  It runs under Wine for starters.  And the Android client is fully interoperable with the PC.  I had helm on my laptop and Comms on my phone and it worked flawlessly.  I assume it would be the same story for an idevice.

Here's a video:

I understand people play this online as well, presumably with multiple copies of the main screen running.  I may need to look into that.  This weekend though we're going to try doubling up on the stations and see how it goes.

We've played this before, it's a hell of a lot of fun. We found that having a captain who controlled no stations but just did the general coordination/order giving was the best way to approach it.

I totally want to get a session of this together. It looks like brilliant fun.

I recently tested running the main screen off of my phone on a TV via HDMI cable.  Worked flawlessly.  That'll make it very portable.  We may even do a lunch session at work this week.
