This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Probably forgetting quite a few.

Benoist

None. My XBOX RRODed for the second time in a matter of months about... a year and half ago or more. I have not replaced it since then. Much less of a time sink.

I got some used versions of Trivial Pursuit, Clue and Stratego in a yard sale a few months ago, though, if that counts.

brunz

Skyrim for PC.

My buying habits have slowed right down, it seems.

Nevermind.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Let's see...

Skyrim: really liked it, despite issues with crashes and the like. Can't make myself do the Stormwhatever questline. Seems so...racist.

ME 1, 2, 3: I used a friend's copies of ME 1 and 2 for my first, and only, full playtrough. Then actually bought 3 myself. Then went back and got 1 and 2 off of Steam.

For tabletop, only the Magic Burner for Burning Wheel.

So, not a lot, but I ain't rich, so I don't think there'll be much more this year.

Just got an email saying Combat Mission: Shock Force is about to be released for the Mac, so I'll be grabbing that.  I'm a big fan of the original Combat Mission (Beyond Overlord).
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

The Butcher

It's been a while since I've last bought a single-player RPG. The last two I've got were Dungeon Siege 2 (2006?) and NWN 2 (2008?), and I didn't get to finish either one.

I missed out on pretty much the entire Elder Scrolls series.

What do you say? Should I pick up Skyrim (or Morrowind, or Oblivion)?

I'm greedily eyeing the BG relaunch.

Peregrin

I always recommend The Witcher, although the first game features some unfortunately childish gimmicks (sex cards for the women you sleep with).  It's also a sort of love-it-or-hate-it experience because the main character isn't agreeable to everyone's tastes in protagonists.

As for TES, Skyrim is, IMO, better than both Morrowind and Oblivion.  Oblivion is outright awful without mods, and Morrowind has all sorta of clunky legacy crap, although the world has a really alien atmosphere and the writing in the books (there are books/scrolls all over the world that have short stories and histories) is better.

So Morrowind == interesting world and writing, really clunky mechanics.  Oblivion is just meh.  Skyrim has relatively good gameplay (though still clunky compared to other RPGs), but it's still not as alien as Morrowind (though it is an interesting environment because of the northern location).

Skyrim also has procedurally generated encounters and sidequests, so you can keep going and the game will keep throwing stuff at you, although I'm sure it'll get repetitive after a while.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

Casperig

I'm preordering Max Payne 3. Yeah!

Skyrim (PC) - The single most worthwhile video game purchase I've made in years. The mod community is easily doubling this games greatness

Lord of the Rings : War in the North (PC) - I bought it for some closed multiplayer fun on Steam. Its nothing groundbreaking, but between the fun had while multiplaying, and its setting, I don't regret the purchase at all

Kingdoms of Amalur : Reckoning (PC)

Mass Effect 3 (PC)

Trine 2 (PC)

recently Dustforce (PC: Steam)

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Torchlight II presently

+ giving Blade & Soul (PC) a trial run on a private server. Its a pretty game, but pretty bleh w/o a solid translation.
"People ask the question... what\'s a RocknRolla? And I tell \'em - it\'s not about drums, drugs, and hospital drips, oh no. There\'s more there than that, my friend. We all like a bit of the good life - some the money, some the drugs, others the sex game, the glamour, or the fame. But a RocknRolla, oh, he\'s different. Why? Because a real RocknRolla wants the fucking lot" -Archy (RocknRolla)
