I got one...It's a lot of fun. Wann trade friend codes?

Although right now all we can do is send messages and Miis and trade pictures from Elebits :)

That'll all change when Poke'mon comes out....

I would have one (or, rather, my kids would) if it were possible to buy one of the fucking things in the UK.  They're constantly sold out everywhere.  Damnit!

Aw man ... there's a Pokémon Wii game coming out?  My eldest son's two great addictions.  Any links to early reviewage or anything?  I'm interested to know what the deal's gonna be.

I don't know from Friend codes, I'm afraid.  If you can walk me through a little, that'd be cool.

I'd buy one, but the prices for next-gen consoles are insane here.

My son has one, and it does, indeed, rock. The graphics are not up to PS3 and Xbox 360 standards but the interface is beautifully simple and intuitive. It's a joy to play. I'm not into e-games, but I have played the Wii sports games, and they'd entertain me forever.

I've been having a lot of fun with mine, and out here in the States, the Wii is the only moderately priced new system ($250 vs $500-$600). I hear the 360 is about to do a price drop though.

As far as the friend codes go, if you go to your Wii message center (it's in the lower right of your Wii channels screen) click it then click open your address book. Your "friend code" is on the "cover" of the address book. If you want to set up messaging between us, go ahead and PM me that number and I'll PM you mine :).

I want a Wii, but my wife wants a PS3 (we already have a 360).  I have little interest in the PS3 right now (someday, maybe, if the price drops any) and she has none in the Wii.

KrakaJak

Find a way for her to PLAY it. She might understand then. I'm having a lot f fun with it...a LOT of fun with it.

Well at least the Wii is roughly 1/2 the price of the others. Retail anyway. I know at least a couple of weeks ago it was still selling on ebay about 30% over retail. It is still hard to find just dropping into stores, you have to hit a shipment. I tried it out in a mall and it seems OK. My oldest has played with one through a friend and wants one.

I was planning to try pick one up tomorrow morning (a local store was suppose to be getting a shipment in).

For me, the reasons to get a Wii are price and the unique gameplay.  The game selection doesn't thrill me yet, but Zelda looks good, and I'm sure there will be more coming out.  I generally don't care that much about graphics (I still play text adventure games and 80's games, for crying out loud).  The downsides are that they're impossible to find (although that will be remedied eventually) and the possibility that the unique gameplay may get old after a while.

My wife is interested in the PS3 because we can play our existing PS2 games, since our current one is busted (although I've pointed out to her that we can buy a Wii, the controllers, and a brand new PS2 for less than a PS3, and that's assuming we can't get the PS2 fixed).  She also likes the fact that it's a Blu-Ray player, which is something I don't care about right now at all, and probably won't care about for a few years at least.  The thing is, though, the PS3 currently can't use Guitar Hero controllers or DDR pads, both of which we have, so unless an adapter comes out for them (which I could see happening), we'd be SOL on that front.

It does.

She'd have to get in line behind me, though. :) Kidding, of course.  But I don't know anybody who has a Wii, unfortunately, which means finding a game store somewhere that lets people use the controller instead of just watching a video.  I have a couple of friends with PS3s, and we both have played Resistance on it -- fun, but definitely not sufficient reason to get a PS3.

KrakaJak

I wouldn't say it gets old, but motion control does lose it's "WOW" factor.

However, going back to non-motion controls (I own a PS2 which I play regularly too) you realize just how versatile and imersive it really is. It really clicks if you've played the GameCube Twilight Princess vs. the Wii Twilight Princess. It's not even half as fun.

I will say that the Virtual Console is probably my Favorite feature (Me and My Girlfriend beat Toejam & Earl about once a week together).

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.
