I recently cancelled my WoW account because it was draining of time and money (mainly time). I would like to find a nice free MMORPG to play. Any suggestions. I am looking for one that is classic fantasy but with fairly good graphics, features, etc. In other words, the perfect game :p
I have played a few and I will make comments as needed but I wanted to see if any certain game or games pop up.
Thanks in advance.
I think you kinda defeated your argument in the first line.
If the criteria was the was free, then not having spare time doesnt come into it.
On a separate note, I have a couple of links to maintained websites listing and rating MMORPGs which Ill post later, unless someone else beats me to it.
True enough although I think will be less attached to a game that doesn't cost anything. Don't get me wrong, I have some spare time but I want to split it up differently. (I said it was draining my time, not that I didnt have any.:P) I would appreciate the sites, I know of some but perhaps you might know of some others.
edit - for clarity and expansion upon my reply.
Check out
Dungeon Runners (http://www.dungeonrunners.com/)
It's free, but has added benefits if you pay (better equip, banks etc..)
It's 29.99, but no subscription:
Guild Wars. The best game.
Well, I tried Dungeon Runners...seems like a nice Diablo-style game. I haven't spent enought time to say anything else.
Guild Wars: Do I need the other three expansion packs to play? I will have to do some more research on it. Is it PvP or PvE or both?
Guild Wars has both PvE and PvP. In fact if you just wanted to PvP, you can start with a max level character and do that (without the leveling up part). I never did get the expansions, so can't comment there. It's pretty, has some nice cut scenes, but overall, it didn't grab me. I gave my copy away, or I'd give you mine... YMMV Good luck!
I have really heard mixed things about Guild Wars. I'll have to put a hold on it in any case, being in the middle of "creation mode" and all that.
There's a level-capped trial mode for Ryzom. I highly recommend checking it out, it's a very cool game. Very cool system (the only effects-based system I've seen in MMOs), and a very unique style and setting. It also has a user module editor and GM mode.
It is a monthly fee if you decide to go full version, but I think it's worth it, unless you're one of those odd individuals with a rabid irrational hate for monthly service fees.
Kingdom of Loathing. It's browser based, it's always free, it's very funny, has a great community...and with a limited number of adventures per day it won't use too much of you time up! Don't let the stick figure graphics fool you either...there's a pretty egrossing game in there!

If you dont want it can I please, please have your account? I've been wanting to try GW for quite a long time now.

guild wars requires you to work with too many other characters - ai in lieu of humans. consequently it falls apart as their AI is just dreadful. Some of the mobs are way overpowered (eg, everyone in factions seems to inflict massive amounts of continual health degeneration). Some of the mechanics in game are very flawed and the missions are long winded and tedious. the basic idea is sound but it's more like diablo than wow. the economic aspect is a joke and a total waste of time.
