This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Not the usual topic of discussion, but I like browsing the Google play store sometimes and came across this really nice little CRPG called 9th Dawn.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.valorware.ninthdawn

It's very much in the flavor of the early "Ultima" series of computer games that came out on the Spectrum, commodore 64 etc.

This particular game is really well done (for what it is). Quite a detailed world for the platform really.
If you like this sort of thing, I highly recommend it.

What other decent CRPGs are there out there on Android/IOS ?

I believe both Baldurs Gates are available for IOS and Android now.

Yup

I remember playing BG many years ago, great fun.

The mobile version seems to have reports of it being quite buggy, I'll check out some Youtube reviews later in more detail before deciding.

I recently got the PC enhanced edition though, so it might be overkill to get it on a mobile platform as well.

There are a whole stack of good RPGs available for the iPad. Final Fantasy 1-6 for a start. Cold Fire Keep is an homage to Dungeon Master from the 16-bit era. The Dungeon Hunter series is a nice action-rpg in the same vein as a single player Diablo. The modern remake of Bard's Tale.

There are also some cracking point-n-click adventures, and tactical combat game like a Final Fantasy Tactics.

Then there are the augmented 'adventure game books' including the first two books from the Sorcery! series and Lone Wolf.

Good times!

Knights of the Old Republic on iOS.

I'll tell you what I wish they would port to the iPad: Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command. I really enjoyed that game. Great Little War Game is good an' all but there's nothing quite like smiting some Emperor-damned heretics.

Warhammer Quest is great, if you want a dungeon crawl.

Oh yes I remember those books from the 80s. I played them a LOT, in fact they were what got me into RPGs in the first place.
I will definitely invest in some of those android apps soonish.

That sounds like fun and will check it out thanks.

It would be really cool if Neverwinter Nights could be converted to a mobile app.
Perhaps that's too complex for a Mobile platform though.

I think I still have it installed on my PC with all the expansions and lots of fan made adddons as well. I played NWN a LOT. IMO probably the computer game that came the closest to the tabletop RPG experience, what with persistent worlds etc.

I've tried Baldur's Gate on the iPad and they haven't ported it well in my opinion. It's really hard to click on many items with the touch screen, unfortunately.

Yeah I read some of the reviews saying that, a shame

Using a stylus minimizes this problem.
