This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

As someone who entierly skipped 7th edition because it got so fucking expensive, I'm pleased to hear they're aiming to lower the cost of entry.

For comparison, the money to buy just the 7th edition rules could (and did) get me an X-Wing starter box, and enough ships to put a full squadron on the table.

Quote from: FAQHow can I get the rules?
We’re going to make it easier than ever to get your hands on the rules and start playing.
The core rules for the game will be free, and you’ll have several options on how you get your
hands on the full rulebook. Watch this space for more.

*Edit* Got my edition #'s wrong, corrected.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Well, they've been trying harder for a couple of years now.  I guess being in the red was instructive.  Even so, what I see is a corporation endlessly regurgitating the thirty year old ideas of better men.  I'll never say they don't make technically excellent kits but when it comes right down to it, the Necrons got GW's soul many years ago.

It's cool that they are trying and all, but I'm basically over using 40k rules. I've moved on to playing in the 40k universe with other rule systems. Clash on the Fringe feels like a better edition of Rogue Trader and hits all the right notes, besides being massively cheaper.

kosmos1214

well it seem to me that GW has been over priced for a long time and this sounds like its finally catching up with them.

50$ US for 5 minis? 20+ for some? Yeaaaah the price sure has dropped.

They have a new Warhammer Quest out. Except not. It requires a GM now. 150$ for 30 minis.

AaronBrown99

Yeah, the 'get started:Orks' box is 20 miniatures at $85...

Here we go, I can't help it:

"I bought a box of 30 space marines for $20 for Rogue Trader games. These prices are outrageous! Harumph!"
"Who cares if the classes are balanced? A Cosmo-Knight and a Vagabond walk into a Juicer Bar... Forget it Jake, it\'s Rifts."  - CRKrueger

Thats allmost reasonable for a set of 20. Still gouging. But then their unit packs tend to be reasonable. Their character one on the other hand tend to be anything but.
