This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Warmachine Tactics

I bought this computer game. I have played it pretty frequently. And it taught me a lot about Warmachine along the way.

It started as a Kickstarter game. But I didn't get in on the Kickstarter. I bought the game and all of its DLC after its launch.

However. This is where things get choppy. The company hasn't finished rolling out all of the content that was promised in the Kickstarter itself. So the game itself is incomplete currently. With no notice that it will ever be completed.

Instead of completing the game as per Kickstarter requirements. They went on to a different project. Another game that they decided should take priority. Instead of actually finishing and delivering the product they have already been paid for.

The only good thing I ever got that was Kickstarter originated, that actually was as promised, was the Nextbit Robin. My current smartphone.

So yeah. Between all of this and the Endure The Stars fiasco. I am feeling really wary of Kickstarter projects altogether.

This is why you need to do research before you jump in.  Some people are safe bets.  Kevin Crawsford is one of them as all of his kickstarters pass with flying colors.  Always research before you buy.

I always try. Not always succeed.

When I first learned of Endure The Stars. It was actually featured in an article on SyFy's website. And the fact it got such mainstream attention caused me to let down my guard a bit. After all. Why would a media outlet like SyFy endorse something dodgey?

The NextBit Robin I researched painstakingly for more than a year. And I didn't buy it until it was on a Black Friday sale for less than 50% of its original asking price. But hey! I got a great phone out of it.

Warmachine Tactics I got into because I wanted to know more about Warmachine. And I thought I was safe after the Kickstarter ended. I researched the game for months prior to buying it. And the promises the developers kept making on delivering the content seemed genuine. But it just didn't turn out that way.
