This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I just saw this from FAT GOBLIN GAMES
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/286320/DIY-Monster-Manual

It's 141 page and $2 bucks and its a very fun idea. Here's the deal. It's b/w pics of monsters and pages with blank lines where YOU fill in the stats and the description of the monster for your campaign.

I love the DIY MM concept because I believe GMs should personalize their campaigns by tailoring everything to the setting - monster, chargen, magic, items, etc - to make the game fell less generic and more mystical.

BTW, I'm not part of Fat Goblin. I just like this product.

For what it's worth, this has always been part of D&D. This is why the various monster stats in the AD&D1e MM are different to those found in AD&D1e modules.

If you wanted to have a 5 hit dice goblin with two claw attacks, you could. If you wanted the next one to be 1-1 hit dice with a piece of soggy celery, you could. The monster stats were suggestions merely.
