This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

VENGER CON III: Revenge of the OSR

There's the OSR that's all flashy and prominent... well-read blogs, HUGE Kickstarter campaigns, rule-sets many gamers utilize, massive conventions, and prominent personalities that were there and gaming in the old days, the before-times.  And then, there's the average individuals doing their thing, some quietly and others loud, off in their own isolated spaces.  That's the other OSR, the unsung movement that helped spearhead a revolution in the RPG hobby, community, and industry.

VENGER CON is very much of the latter category.  I'm one of the little guys - writing, designing, publishing, running - wanting to share it with the world.  If we get 100 attendees (the maximum), I'll be in shock.  I'm hoping for 50.  That would be enough to break-even, once you consider all the promotional expenses that go into a small gaming convention from announcement until it actually happens.

This is the listing.  $100 for 3 days of non-stop RPGs with Venger Satanis (along with all my dark wisdom and forbidden lore), a yet-unnamed Guest of Honor, and a few dozen OSR lovers.  If you can make it, I'd love to see you there!

Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!

I hope my schedule will be free on that date.  I am dying to go to this con.

Thanks, hoss!  I hope you can attend.  BTW, I just got a "Yes" from Scott of Diversity & Dragons (youtube channel and podcast).  He'll be the Guest of Honor for next year's VENGER CON.  We're excited to have him.

Good luck, Venger!

I'm happy you are making it to a third year of gaming fun!

Glad to hear this is progressing!

So this would run from July 19th-21st in 2024? Not sure in advance if I'd be able to make it. Suspecting probably not, though, given what I currently know of my availability, transportation options, and blah. Which is unfortunate. That said, good luck regardless, and hopefully it turns out as awesome as it looks!

(Incidentally, is there a way to support the convention without taking up a slot/buying a badge? I wouldn't want to grab one of only 100 (I guess now 98) slots and then not show, though I was admittedly somewhat tempted to buy and then roll the badge over to next year's possible convention on purpose, lol.)

The rollover is certainly an option.  I really have no idea if attendance will end up at 30, 50, or 100 (unlikely that last one, but you never know).  If you want to contribute to the convention in other ways, I recommend grabbing the Cha'alt hardcover trilogy - especially since if you purchase it this month, next month I send you a complimentary set of Cha'alt X-Cards:  https://vengersatanis.blogspot.com/2023/09/chaalt-x-card-trilogy-deal.html

If there's any big news, I'll post it in this thread.
