This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Rogue's Gallery SWADE-ified

For those who have been following on social media, you'll be aware that I'm currently working on getting Frozen Skies updated to the new Adventure Edition of Savage Worlds. A draft of the update document (dubbed 'Black Ice') has also been shared and covers rules and gear, etc. The biggest task is updating the various NPCs due to changes to skills, Hindrances and Edges. Decided to redo a character previously posted on the blog, partially as some practice and partially to showcase differences.

Frozen Skies Session 15: My Heart Will G-...Oh

After escaping the icebound wrecked skyship and Alex cementing his position as captain, the crew set about completing the second of Andrei's tasks. This entailed the crew indulging in a bit of sky piracy, though with almost disastrous results. Other highlights include a character dispatching their hated foe and a new member to the crew.

Update Feb 2019

Well, its been a while since an update was posted.

Now we've settled into a new year its probably an idea to make a post about whats planned for Utherwald in 2019. The big news is probably going to be Frozen Skies and SWADE related, but some other stuff will be covered.

Frozen Skies Episode 16: Revenge of the Burning Knives

Last time our intrepid crew pulled off an airship heist and framed a rival gang for the crime in the process. For one character it really was the chance to shine...and almost die in the process. It was also the opportunity for a new character to join the crew, filling a spot that had recently and tragedy been made vacant.

This week the crew were in for an unexpected and potentially nasty surprise...

Commonwealth Revisited Part Two

Quick follow-on post this week to a post from last month, which detailed some changes that I wished to make to the Commonwealth. Wanted to go with a more Celtic feel for the nation, something that I hope the changes help capture. So, without further ado, I present a revised version of the Commonwealth.

Frozen Skies Episode 17: Express Train to Trouble

After dealing with the Burning Knives gang, the crew set about preparing themselves for Andrei's latest job; a train heist. Though the crew managed to pull it off, it proved to be a case of 'Things Never Go Smooth'.  One of the characters has developed doubts over the recent activities of the crew and some resentment of the latest addition to the crew.

Cold War Skirmishes SWADE Update

This week we're heading back to Cold War Skirmishes, mainly going over some stuff and updating them to SWADE. Recently released an adventure through the Savage Worlds Adventurer's Guild called Operation Thule; Set during the 1982 Falklands Conflict and featuring some Weird elements to showcase the potential of what came be run in the...erm...'setting'. This post builds upon Operation Thule by providing extra gear and vehicles to broaden the scope for a British military based game during the Cold War period. Do intend to cover the other powers and nations such as the Soviet Union and USA; I know more about the British military, which makes it a better starting point for me.

Frozen Skies Episode 18: Casino Royale

Following on from the train heist, the crew ended up in a casino....though not for another heist. This was the crew's first shot at bounty hunting, which they managed to successfully pull off. It proved to be Beginner's Luck and the Jackpot for one of the characters, whilst another may have brought the wrath of the local taxi drivers' union down upon the crew.

Commonwealth Revisited: The Royal Aero-Fleet

Part of an ongoing mini-series where I take a look at the fluff of the wider world of Frozen Skies and possibly revise it. As the main power in Alyeska, it made sense to start with the Commonwealth particularly as there were some parts of it that I wasn't fully happy with. The next step was looking at the Commonwealth's military and making changes where I had new ideas, in this instance a complete revision of the Commonwealth's air forces.

Frozen Skies Episode 19: The Spitsworth Redemption, Part I

Last time saw the crew hit the casinos in search of a bounty, efforts that were nearly ruined by a certain doctor who sometimes let his mouth run off when it really shouldn't. Fortunately one character had one heck of a beginner's luck at the tables and they managed to capture the bounty. Though there is a looming vendetta from a taxi driver's union.

This week saw the crew put a plan into action to put a character back in their family's good standing...well last man standing far as the will is concerned.

Rogue's Gallery: Queen Lothwyn

An ongoing project at the moment is going through and nailing the background lore for the wider world of the Frozen Skies setting.  Part of this has included a series of recent posts covering a revision of the Commonwealth and part of its military in the form of the Royal Aero-Fleet. Plan to do a few more posts concerning the Commonwealth, but realized that I haven't written much about the most important person in the Commonwealth: Queen Lothwyn II.

Frozen Skies Episode 20: Two Pints of Cider and a SMG

Previously, the crew put their plan into action to restore Reginald to his family's good graces...or at least to gain unrestricted access to the Spitsworth family wealth. This week was the next stage of the plan, one that concerned Reginald's sister Elisa. The hope was to convince her to come along and stage a kidnapping and then rescue by Reginald. As it turned out, things really go to plan nor as expected.

Commonwealth Revisited: The Garda

Continuing the effort to take another look at the Commonwealth and make revisions where needed, we take a look at the Commonwealth's national police force; the Garda.

We take a look at the Garda's origins and how it became the force it is today. In addition, we'll also take a look at the Garda's current roles and some ideas for including the Garda in your games of Frozen Skies.

Frozen Skies Episode 21: Endgame

So after a lunchtime shoot-out in a country pub, the crew prepared themselves for an assault on Spitsworth Manor. Expecting a recreation of the Forlorn Hope or the Charge of the Light Brigade, almost nobody could've expected the explosive finale. It was a night to remember, one filled with ferocious battle, fiery destruction and the fall of many a great name.

Frozen Skies: The Spitsworth Family

What started as a background detail for a character morphed into a plotline that ended up driving a campaign forward. This week, as part of a series of posts related to my now finished campaign, will focus on the Spitsworth family. Included will be a brief description of its members, plus some extra details that'll flesh out the family even more.
