SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: PelgraneThank you for that datapoint.

Part of the reason I do Page XX is to promote the company, but it's by no means the main reason.

Well, that's the reason you (and people like you) are allowed to come into our community and post stuff in this particular forum, isn't it? You want to advertise your stuff. Which is great. Otherwise you'd be a community participant. You'd be in a forum a few lines up, talking about how much you love dice pools or talking about your furry-based Traveller campaign or how much you hate 4E or... something.  Is this confusing to anyone? You're obviously welcome to be here, but don't mistake your role. If you'd been smart you'd have realized that you never had to respond to my first post; the rhetorical question was posed to the other community participants here.

QuoteI take there isn't a single article or download we've published on Page XX that you have found worthwhile? If this isn't the case I look forward to your consumption and advocacy.

My issue is that you are here to promote the forgies, who are overexposed, intellectually dishonest, and have a hilariously bloated sense of entitlement. If you want to associate with them, that's your business, but neither Pelgrane nor Profantasy benefits in any way from their philosophy. And bringing them in here and holding them up as a point of interest in your publication was either a sign of ignorance of how they have been received here in the past or a direct taunt.

EDIT: Simon - you are a class act. A tip of the old chapeaux to you, Sir.

Ned

Why, thank you.

This is priceless when preceded in a previous post by...
Quote from: Abyssal Maw in a previous thread bleated...have certain responsibilities to us as consumers.
((What would that be? To post excusively only things YOU want to see?))
...and also followed up by...

Well. Yeah that surprised me a little to but....

You "realize [you're] being a dick about this"? Maybe when you grow the fuck up you might seem like only a dick about this.

I have no desire to display ignorance or taunt you in any way.

So, if I post a link in future, would you like me to remove any links to articles by or about "the Forgies" before I post?

Quote from: flyingmiceI'm a bit bewildered, but I am always happy to talk to anyone about my games. Thing is, not all my games are focused - StarCluster is really sprawling - so that applies only to the IHW series really.
...and I want to hear why [you think] that is!  But I see the dream is now dead. :(  The dream of you 1/2 way through a 20 minute interview breaking out your best Pee-Wee Herman laugh/quote. :haw:

But I'll definately settle for the thread in Design. :win:

Absolutely not. Not at all.

But don't be shocked by how they are received negatively or how that reflects on you, either.

Right, we've either reached an impasse or an agreement - I'm confused as to which. I will continue to post links and I do resolve not be shocked. I haven't heard from you how I can fulfil your offer - that is publish on Page XX something to your satisfaction, if I don't know what you have enjoyed, if anything, about the content.

If you are ever willing to contribute anything, even something negative about "the Forgies" and it reaches our not insurmountable standards, I'd be happy to publish it.

First thing first...

Pelgrane/Simon - thanks for all the Gumshoe games you publish. I play them to my satisfaction. They are fun. I also like Robin Laws articles on Page XX, they are usually quite witty.

The Forge interview I don't get though. It has no connection to Page XX or your production it is just cheap advertisment to Forge products I find unsatisfing.

I am evaluating every product based on its own quality, that is why I will support Gumshoe in future as well, but I must say, that cooperation with the Forge or its members does not improve your company image in my eyes. Sorry.

I know we talked about having an RPG Site podcast once, but I don't think it ever took off.  We have enough smart folks and interesting publishers around here--it'd be nice to see it happen.
