This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'll definitely grab the pod from drivethru once available as it'll give me a reason to grab a bunch of other stuff at the same time thus giving them a ton of cash :)

I hope Loz or Pete see this post, because it's aimed at them.

Will there ever be a POD version of RQ6 available on Drivethru, hardcover or softcover? I think RQ6 is too pricey for me, specially in this economy, but I can't help myself :( , I'll end up buying it, and I'd rather have a hardcover.
Grając zaś w grę komputerową, być może zdarzyło się wam zapragnąć zejść z wyznaczonej przez autorów ścieżki i, miast zabić smoka i ożenić się z księżniczką, zabić księżniczkę i ożenić się ze smokiem.

The gift of email thread notification has made it so... :-)

A couple of things here.

First, I have tested a Drivethru hardcopy in both softcover and hardcover formats. I was not impressed with the results. The bindings were fine, but image reproduction was piss-poor in both samples. So bad, that I decided not to offer a POD copy. Now, one might say, 'Loz, you clearly sent Drivethru incorrectly formatted files', but the files I submitted were identical to those I tested with Lulu (who only offer softcover) POD, and the Lulu results were very good without any of the issues I had with DTRPG.

Its quite expensive to manage POD. I have to pay full-cost for samples, so I simply can't afford to continually tweak each error and get a fresh sample before deciding everything's okay. My offset printer, by contrast, sends me proof galleys and works with me to correct errors and so forth. So, my confidence shaken in DTRPG's POD, no, I won't be offering it any time soon.

Second, even if I do offer POD on the core rules in the future, I won't be offering RQ6 at a lower price. There are two reasons. First, on a per-unit basis, POD is expensive. There's also a higher cut going to DTRPG than for a simple PDF transaction. Plus, I've invested in offset print copies, which are of high quality, and I clearly want to sell. If I offer POD at a cheaper price I'm effectively penalising my own sales.

As to hardcover, we will launch a Kickstarter to produce a nice hardback edition. Stretch Goals will allow for things like a dustjacket and ribbon bookmark. A hardcover will be priced in a similar orbit to the current softcover for backers and, depending on response to the KS, we may be able to print enough to keep a hardcover in inventory too.
