This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Wild World Wrestling is Coming!

Evolving from the popular cult-hit WWE: Know Your Role rpg comes Wild World Wrestling, by Tony "Tone Cold" Lee and TimeOut Diversions!

WWW retains the same critically acclaimed improvisational make-your-own-maneuver system, narrative aspects and other good parts of its predecessor, but with streamlined and improved mechanic to elevate the game to a new level! For starters, gone are the character classes for greater range of customization, as are conventional Hit Points in favor of reworked Fatigue and Injury rules. Advancement is amazingly intuitive. Opponent-invoked Flaws have been added for extra favor (the "crowd hate" for John Cena can now be simulated :p). Managers are a much more viable option. Plus... a simple "Star Power" option for "pushing" and "de-pushing" a wrestler just like a real promotion! It matters not if a wrestler just main-evented a PPV, he can be relegated to mid-card hell and losing to up-n-comers the very next week! Best of all, the decision is purely up to the players.

Wild World Wrestling is tentatively scheduled for November 22, 2010 release from TimeOut Diversions for just $5.00! It will be a printer-friendly PDF that won't guzzle up ink You do not need to own KYR to play WWW.

For more details and inside scoops on WWW, sign up to the TimeOut Diversions Yahoo Group here, or check out the official WWW thread at the TimeOut forum. More will be revealed as we get closer to the debut.

Please feel free to ask questions about WWW, I'll do my best to answer!

Just want to add that I do plan to fully support the WWW line (as opposed to the distinct lack of for WWE: KYR from Comic Images). Here's a plan I want to implement to build up a community: You can submit your own promotion for publication! Yes, write up the wrestlers (and their stats using WWW rules) in your created promotion, along with feuds, history, big matches, show/PPV recaps, etc. And if accepted I'll put it up as an inexpensive Promotion Book in PDF (probably $2-$3 each, maybe less), and very likely offering you a small royalty (say, 5% of its sales). The goal is to have a vast resource of promotions to draw ideas, wrestlers, characters and styles from--promotions that have already been tried and tested. One such fan promotion, RWF (Rampage Wrestling Federation) is already committed and on board. And I look forward to many of you joining once WWW is released.

Thanks!

Cool, I heard great things about KYR, but was never able to get my hands on a copy. Being an indy wrestler out here in California, I thought it'd be a lot of fun to do an RPG as a form of character practice with some of the guys.

A couple questions I though of:

Is this game still going to be D20/OGL?

Does the game still reward players for cutting awesome promos before matches?

Any support for miniatures/action figures?

Can you explain how the matches work?

Can you give an overview of mechanics outside of matches?

Dude...you can find copies for, like $5 now...=)

But I'd just wait until Tony's comes out now...=) I got to play KYR a few times (none of my friends are hardcore fans and none of the guys I wrestled with are gamers) and it's probably my second favorite iteration of the d20 system (behind Star Wars Saga Edition).

Tony,

Out of curiosity: How are skills handled? The same as in d20? Streamlined ala Star Wars Saga Edition? Something else entirely?
