Palace of the Vampire Queen was the world's first known commercially-published adventure. Originally released in 1976 by Wee Warriors, it is a 5-level dungeon with what was called pre-factored creatures and treasures (in other words, this is essentially a stocked dungeon). Designed for 0E / OSR.

This piece of gaming history from Wee Warriors is a must for collectors and old school gamers. With the original on the extremely rare list, this classic reprint has been remastered for a clean print, and is readily available at a low cost.

Very cool! Definitely advertise this one far and wide.

Have you run the adventure? Your thoughts?

Will you be doing a 5e version? I could see the nostalgia angle doing well on Kickstarter.

brettmb

It can be tough, but depends on the group. I'm looking at some sort of fleshed-out OSR version and for Swords & Six-Siders. Still looking into 5E.

Jager Fury

It is an item of historical interest, but as a third party adventure product it is dreadful. I hope you can make it interesting. I would hesitate to run my PCs through this thing.

Spinachcat

It reminds me of old Judges Guild adventures where the adventure becomes more than the sum of its parts in actual play, especially when the GM weaves the various bits into a cohesive concept. Its definitely not a modern product in any way, shape or form, but I could easily see polishing it up for 5e fans so they can say they played one of the earliest adventures ever published.

And now The Dwarven Glory is back. Originally released in 1977 by Wee Warriors, it features 8 map sections with pre-factored monsters and treasures. Designed for 0E / OSR (B/X recommended)

I never heard of The Dwarven Glory. What's special about it?

Who were Wee Warriors? Did they go on to create anything else?

brettmb

It's one of the earliest commercial dungeons for D&D, distributed by TSR for a time before they came out with their own adventures. Wee Warriors created 3 dungeon kits (including this one), and some mini-tabletop games (including The Embattled Trek, a very close to Star Trek ship combat game). http://rpg.deals/wee

Hi Brett,

I recently ordered (and received!) Palace of the Vampire Queen and The Vanquished Foe. I am thinking of ordering Dwarven Glory, but if you are planning to re-release The Misty Isles, I would rather wait a little and buy the two together to combine shipping. Do you have plans to publish that one?

Yes, it's the next Wee Warriors re-release.
