It's been a great two years since I released classic Knights & Legends on DTRPG. From that point on, the game was able to expand to unimaginable extents. In September of 2019 I self-published yet another game. This time called the New Horizon: All-In-One Core Book, it expanded the lore of the realm and presented a multi-tier set of original rules that made the game both simple and complex on the go.

New Horizon was such a remarkable experience that it was included in the Australia Relief Fund Bundle hosted by OBS, with many other games in it. Today, over 1,145 TRPG players got their hands on both classic K&L and New Horizon Core Books, not including additional paid supplements release for both games.

However, while this was considered a successful release for an Indie TRPG, in my mind as the creator, something was still amiss. The original dream of creating a 3D video game. A game that could not only infinitely expand Ezorian lore, but also visually deliver to the player what's on my mind as the original creator of this legacy.

Today I bring some great news to all K&L fans and supporters out there! Knights & Legends Dawn of a New Age (Ultimate Edition) will be available Friday, November 6th 2020 as a special early release, exclusively at DTRPG until July 30th 2021. Then the game will be available both on Itch and Steam for billions of other video game players out there to get a chance to experience the realm of Ezora on their own, and learn the great potential tabletop role-playing games have in them. Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age, is a story driven adaptation of both 2018 and 2019's best selling Tabletop RPGs, Knights & Legends and New Horizon by Felix, J.

You'll be introduced to the world of Ezora, a realm full of history and mysteries to uncover. In this story, you'll be taking  the role of Maximilian Kreutzer, a mystic Templar warrior of the Xhinian Order.

You're assigned the task of investigating the mysterious disappearance of two fellow Templars. But before Maximilian realizes, things spiral out of control. Leading him on a quest beyond the world of the living. Where he then must overcome the trials of the mysterious Eidolon, keeper of the Outer World.

Its unforgiving combat system doesn't allow for second chances! During your quest, you'll cross swords with a wide variety of enemies. Each with their own unique skills and abilities. Since mid March I've been working non stop in the development of the game. Today I'm glad to inform you, Beta development has officially ended. It's with great joy I share this video with you today. Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age's final build has been compiled and tested on both Windows and Mac computers. For an Indie release, K&L leaves little to wish for. It possesses a compelling and elaborated story, which masterfully delivers all of my visions as this game's creator. Give the game a chance, and you won't regret it.

Some support characters weren't mentioned in order to keep this article spoiler free. As previously mentioned, the game will take anywhere between 6 to 8 hours from beginning to end. Along with the 18 types of model classes listed above, there's a total of 23 unique characters, not including particular variations.

FEATURED LOCALES
Knights & Legend's world is considerably large, unfortunately the game didn't reach the desired amount needed during its crowdfunding campaign. Development relied largely on existing current revenue from the original TRPG book sales. With that said, this adventure main focus lies in the Human race and the nation of Vancroft. You'll be catching a glimpse of other relevant parts of the world as some cutscenes present themselves as the story progresses, including the so called Outer World. The latter, being a spiritual realm where all the dead go before the final judgement is delivered by the mysterious Eidolon.

THE EXPERIENCE (No Clichés)
The beauty behind K&L: DNA lies in its story. The game itself is a hybrid of both JRPGs and Western RPGs, but it's in no way your traditional role-playing game. You're presented a medieval setting with no cliché stereotypes associated with it. For example, facing a dragon is completely optional. And the dragons themselves have nothing to do with this particular story. Opposed to the same old Knight vs. Dragon fantasy medieval setting.
The game's story is largely centered around the protagonist, his past actions, and the current turbulent times surrounding the birth of the Xhinian faith. You work closely with imperial scouts in order to uncover the mysterious death of two of your comrades.
Some of the hero's past actions come back to haunt him, and will change the course of the journey, leading you towards a completely unforeseen ending. The ideal way to fully understand this adventure would be playing the game through twice. Players are also advised to read through the included Collector's Booklet, as it shares vital story enhancing information with no spoilers.

PREQUEL ANIMATION
It's been long my desire to deliver K&L in three different mediums. Literature, video game, and now after a long search, a talented artist have been hired and is currently in the process of creating a short animation which will serve as a direct prequel to Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age. Hey guys, I wanted to thank everyone for their support. It's been an amazing 5 years since I've been in business. I owe a lot to the TRPG community so that's why I'm putting extra, extra attention to the final touches of K&L: DNA. The Ultimate Edition, comes with a couple of goods that will largely reward you for spending a little extra. Early Access, will give you the opportunity to attain not only the original animation, but also the whole Tabletop RPG collection at no additional cost. While the animation and Tabletop RPGs aren't fundamental to understanding the story of the game, you'll benefit greatly from unique lore that can only be accessed through these extra materials, including unique illustrations and more.

If you're an avid tabletop rpg player, there's possibly hundreds of hours to be had by playing your way through the books with a set of polyhedral dice. It doesn't matter if you're planning to play solo or in groups, the experience will be nothing shorter than pleasant. That's doubly true, if you're a fan of all medieval and mythological things.



This preview highlights two important moments in the story of the realm. The first, a prequel that further enhances the story of Dawn of a New Age. The second, current events you'll face during gameplay. The universe is stitched together in such a way, that it doesn't really matter whether you start by reading the books, or playing the game, etc...

There was no right time to start game development. To be honest, I didn't even know I'd be creating a video game. It was all so spontaneous and natural that I just kept on going without giving it a second thought. Developing Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age (https://www.indiedb.com/games/knights-legends-dawn-of-a-new-age) was great, there was no pressure, and I was fully in control of what I was doing. It was kind of a dream project, to be frank.

Interestingly enough, interacting with the gaming community as close as I do today, exposed a side that's often neglected and not talked about. There's stress, there's insecurities, people are legitimate afraid of being ridiculed by others. There's a strong desire to get approval before moving on with their ideas. Less experienced devs are throwing good ideas out in the open instead of protecting them and developing their games in utmost secrecy in this highly competitive multi-billion industry.

All I know is, if I'd wait for approval from others, I'd have developed 0 games as of today. I gave it all I had while creating my game, and I know it won't appeal to everyone. That goes for any product that's in the market ever since the dawn of humanity, and it's okay. Today, I can confidently share with you the cover of my latest product. And the best part, Early Access starts Nov. 6th, 2020!

You heard that right! K&L: DNA is finally going gold, after nearly 11 months in the making the game is finally complete and ready for distribution. The final build demo is in the works and should be ready anytime near the game's Early Access release, on November 6th.

Version 1.1 is the the current build the game will be launching in. With it, are many new improvements to graphics, lighting, and performance. Some fans in social media have hinted that Vaux Hills had a bit too much bloom. I heard their feedback and took things down a notch.

The new improvements made to the region, further enhance the suspenseful atmosphere of the game, keeping you on your toes and wandering what comes next. Check out the latest version 1.1 gameplay screenshots!

Dear reader, thank you for stopping by! There's some great news, but also good and bad news in this article. As a responsible developer it's my duty to keep you in the loop. Let's get to it!

Blood Oath Mod: The mod is the first of its kind, it brings a darker tone to the game, and will be available for free! If you own Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age, all you have to do is go to the game's official website and click on Mods & Patches. Please note, the page will only go live when Early Access is made available.

Included with the mod are the following changes

 
•   New Dark Armor
•   Harder Enemies
•   Unique New Foes
•   Optional Boss Fights
•   Save Compatibility
•   New Music
•   Other Small Changes

When I designed the Blood Oath mod, the idea behind it was for it to serve as a NewGame+ to the original vanilla game. With that said, please bear in mind, you'll get the most out of this mod by finishing the game first. However, I understand that some of us just can't wait! Save compatibility makes it all too easy to install and run the mod, so you can pick up right where you left off.


DAY-1 PATCH 1.1a

The Day-1 patch brings minor changes to the game, it's size is roughly ~24MB and adds a new official animation, along with a few extras. All K&L animations are designed by the talented American artist, Cub Olson. As an independent developer, I've proudly supported other independent artists since 2016.


The official patch also delivers low tier mod support. By low tier, I mean that I won't directly be able to provide modders with the software needed to create mods for the game. However, as mentioned before, for anyone serious about creating a really unique mod, other options are available, including profit possibilities. DELAYS & ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS

In the previous article, I had mentioned I was open for publishers to reach out with their inquiries and offers. Today, I can gladly confirm talks are in progress but I must emphasize there's no guarantee of a deal, mostly because my plans for the IP are very demanding and a bit difficult to make a contract simple. If the game is published by a third party, I'd have the confidence it would reach a much broader audience worldwide in a much faster pace than I could possibly do. Although, when it comes to other specific details, such as rights and licensing, there are very specific requirements coming from my end that surely make reaching a deal a bit more complicated.

November 15th will be the deadline for publishing inquiries. By then, it will roughly be a month since I've been open for publishers to reach out. The back and forth takes time, and that's why I have to unfortunately postpone the Nov. 6th Early Access to Q1 2021. Also, considering I have to pass all docs trough a professional before signing anything, and until I/them finally get to publish the game, it's hard to give a definitive new release date for Early Access at this moment. But please bear in mind, the July 2021 official release is still on schedule, and the current delays shouldn't move past mid February 2021.

Dear friends, 2020 is coming to an end! With the new year comes many great new things, like winning the fight against Covid-19, new releases, and most importantly, getting back to our normal routines. I'm going to be very honest with you and tell you the reason why there's a second delay with the early release for Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age.

#1: 2020 has been a terrifying year for many of us, and I feel like there's nothing to celebrate imho. The release of K&L: DNA is something that must, and will be celebrated for being such an unique and ambitious new project in which I'm sure you'll love.

#2: I see the struggle. There's no one who can predict the future, and all we can do is try to prepare ourselves not to be caught by surprise. I'm not interested in launching the game at this moment due to so many of us stressing out and worrying about the near future. Matter of fact, the $19.99 you would pay for several hours of entertainment can be best used for other household priorities. I understand not all of us were directly affected by Covid-19. However, I must not neglect the fact that there are many of us out there who either didn't have a choice or simply have to face this pandemic headon, like frontline and healthcare workers in order to make ends meet, or simply because they're fulfilling their duties. While I can't change reality, I sure can try to make things a bit better. In honor of all of those who simply can't find the time to enjoy or afford the things they like I'll postpone the early release until April 1st, 2021. Hopefully this is the last delay and things will slowly begin to get back to normal by then.

#3: I'm so confident 2021 will be a great year, that I have a double release planned for you. Today, Knights & Legends has such a undeniable success story behind it, that I owe a sincere and warm thank you to all of the game's fans. Right now I'm working on a new IP called Shotguns & Zombies: Zero Hour. Unlike K&L, S&Z is set in the current world and will debut with a 3D game and quickstart pdf for you to continue the adventure as a Tabletop RPG. If Shotguns & Zombies meets certain expectations, I'll gladly continue developing it alongside K&L games.

If you want anyone to take this announcement seriously, perhaps choosing any other day might be better than saying it will be out on April Fools' Day.

I want to sincerely thank all of my supporters for making this dream possible. It's been roughly 48 hours, since The Lost Chapter Demo was released. And it was widely received with praise and approval from both TRPG and Video Game communities. Ranging from Reddit gaming subs, to Brazil!

Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age, currently sits at #1 outta of 57,365 indieDB games. I don't know how long it will hold the number one spot, but it sure as heck feels good. The wait is finally over! Well, almost. Today I'm extremely proud and excited to bring you the first playable demo for Knights & Legends Dawn of a New Age. The Lost Chapter, will take you on a brief adventure through the gut of the abyss. In a quest to reach the first Xhinian Apostle, Valery Fireborne.





This demo features all new gameplay footage, and reflects much of what you'll find in the final build. Including combat, controls, an original story and rich lore. I would dare to say, playing this demo is a must, before and after you play the final build. You won't be able to solve this enigma just yet.

Knights & Legends: Dawn of a New Age, was set to be released in late 2020. Unfortunately that didn't happen. The game's tentative early release date is now April 2021. If by any set of circumstances I miss the second release date, then it will be released in July as planned.
