Damn, did you have to release it _after_ I've submitted the German review? Actually, the total lack of civilian careers disappointed me a bit as an old Jagged Alliance fan, and I had noted it.
Now I need to delete this part and rate the game a notch better. I hope you feel guilty for it :D

When I write "TDE", I mean "The Dark Eye". Wanna know more? Way more?

There's a formatting mistake: The non-medical colleges are all on page 1, where also the cover image is, and as the cover image is set into the foreground, you can't see the text without marking it.

Ha! Gotcha! Our fiendish plan worked! :D

Actually, we were made mindful of the lack of civvie career options in the final bits of playtest feedback, and rather than delay the release, we decided to offer Civvies as a free supplement. For some reason, some folks LIKE the idea of playing helpless civilians! :D

Whup! Thanks for noticing that! I had just now noticed that there was no Nusring School - required for being a Nurse -  even though I remembered writing one up! So THAT's where it went!

That was stupid!

I will fix!

I thought more along the line of former assassins, terrorists, bodyguards, SWAT cops and similar non-military careers that still give access to useful stuff for the butt-kicking part. Jagged Alliance sported a few of these sort to bring in some variety, and that seemed to me to be a reasonable background for a merc, at least on the SpecOps scale that the game focused on.

What intrigues me especially about Civvies, and what I haven't thought of before is the use of civilians from the area of conflict, who get involved into the mission or into the personal life of the PCs.
Now _that_ offers some interesting possibilities for troupe play and complications...

Glad to be of use, as always. I'll count it as my good deed for today ;)

Yeah, both those types - non-military butt-kickers and locals both came up in Playtest discussion, along with technicians, medicos, and specialists. Civvies tries to cover all those bases.

PS: I can't access the site from home, so I'll put the fixed file up tomorrow.

Good news.
The updated German review that takes "Civvies" into account is now also submitted.

Any other traps you have ready to spring and that I should be aware of, before I start to translate tonight? ;)

If you were aware of them, they wouldn't be very effective traps, now would they? :D

We'll be publishing other supplements, but this one was the most important as it filled a hole in the core rules. The others will be properly supplemental, like "Mo' Armor" and "Even Mo' Planes" and maybe some campaigns.

OK, in case that it's purely extra equipment/vehicles and additional campaigns/set-ups, it isn't of especial concern for my review. (Unless if it manages to turn the detail disparity between aviation and all other stuff around which I noticed, but I'll massively doubt that this is going to happen ;))

The plan is indeed to eventually address the disparity somewhat for folks who want to concentrate more on the ground and water aspects, not just to give more equipment options - except in the case of the planes supplement, which will just be more equipment. The idea for the other supplements is to tackle Armor and Mechanized, Infantry, and Brown Water Navy separately in detail, with more developed vehicle rules and tactics appropriate to each. If that goes well, maybe some focused supplements on stuff like medical and transport.

Remember that the aircraft rules - in addition to being inherently more complex as they use three dimensions - have been developed over three books - Aces In Spades and Aces And Angels use basically the same system - while the other aspects were first introduced in Wild Blue. They need to be developed further, but as we were hitting almost 300 pages in Wild Blue already, there was no room. In fact only Light Infantry and SpecOps were in the original plan for Wild Blue, and Armor, Mechanized, and Brown Water Navy were added late in the development period due to strong demand from our playtesters. What we give in the core book is playable, but far from what we think we can eventually do.

In any case, they shouldn't influence your review as they will take some time to develop properly. If we get one of them out before the end of the year, we'll be lucky. :D

Clash,

Maybe you can make the Black Book series a public project. If you think so, we can discuss the easiest way to do it.
Timeless Games/Better Mousetrap Games - The Creep Chronicle, The Fifth Wheel - the book of West Marque, Shebang. Just released: The Boomtown Planet - Saturday Edition. Also available in hard copy.
