This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm happy to announce that Domains at War is now available in PDF from DriveThruRPG.

First announced during our initial Kicksarter, Domains at War offers three interlocking systems to cover the full sweep of military struggles in a fantasy, ancient, or medieval world:

  • A quick mass combat rule system for use in any role-playing game that uses concepts like hit points and armor class
  • A comprehensive campaign toolkit for use in ongoing games, fully compatible with the Adventurer Conqueror King System's rules for mercenaries, strongholds, magic, and rulership
  • A fast-playing tactical wargame derived from these systems, so that playing a battle generates outcomes like what you'd get if you fought it out on the one-on-one roleplaying scale
The Domains at War Complete Set includes the Campaigns and Battles rulebooks, as well as 12 pages of printable full-color counters for units, leaders, spells, and terrain. If you just want Battles or Campaigns, those are also available separately.

The PDFs are available here:

Any questions about the product, I'm happy to answer them.

ACKS vaunted economic system was pretty much directly ripped out of Companion D&D (and the Gazetteers for the trade system). Not to knock it, that's sort of the whole point of a retro clone, after all.

Is this original or is it copying something from D&D? (Either the Companion mass combat rules, or perhaps Battle System?)
