SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Amagi Games, properly returned.

After the big site crash, and an abortive Worpress restart, Amagi is back online.

www.amagi-games.org

Some reshaping has been done to fit the actual patterns of use...

Most people on the site were interested in a resource for tinkering and design, so that's what it is.

They didn't need another discussion site, so it isn't one anymore.

Also, they were treating the games hosted there as examples of cool stuff to hack with, rather than as a big deal in their own right.  So that's how the site treats those games, now, too.

Looking awesome, Levi!

Humph.  I was hoping for a mis-titled thread about Amiga games.

Levi, I am disappoint.

Good site, though.

This one - the Long Knives -  would be great with On Her Majesty's Arcane Service! Awesome tool for intrigue! :D

Good to hear.

It's not bad.  Amusingly, the relationship chart?  That's from Over The Edge, originally.

I *need* to find the original import/export article, as well...  possibly the single weirdest tool I've made.

I'm just discovering the site, cherry picking what catches my attention. I like the What-I-Like Glossary, it seems very relevant. Though I would probably tweak it to my vision of gaming. It's good to have non loaded names to try and discuss what fellow players like to do, and it's more diverse than say GNS or other very reductive categorizations. Do you use the glossary in any way when a new player wants to join your group? How successful a tool has it been for you?

I'm going to explore the site some more, I'm enjoying it (I'm with Clash on Long Knives). One thing is, I have a hard time with your style of writing. Maybe it's just me, not being natural in English. Now that I've realized that there are nuggets of gaming gold in your articles I'll be more inclined to struggle with your writing style to get to the goodies :)

More than anything else, we use it to review a game before playing - "This game is good at X and Y and Q.  If you play at those, you'll totally get the good stuff."

In that, and other small ways, it has been a very useful tool.  However, I make no claims that it will "change your gaming".  It helps some groups get at the the good stuff a little bit faster.

I call that a success.

I believe it.  My writing style is like my speaking style is like my development style - all over the place.

One day, some brave mad soul will volunteer to edit the articles.

I like this part:

Quote from: From the site10. PLAY THE GAME AT THE GAME:

This is a close partner to sharing creativity. Sometimes, you’ll have an idea about the game before you sit down at the table, about something you’d like to see happen there, or even a whole string of them. That’s good stuff. But when those ideas start to look like a storyline, you need to be careful with it.  A storyline is great raw material, but don’t get too attached; if you stuck on it, you’ll find yourself pushing to make it happen, and  ignoring or working against all the other good ideas and creative input at your table. Don’t play the game before it starts – play the game when you’re at the game.

I fuck that one up all the time, as a player.

You are not alone.

I'm pretty sure I've made every mistake on that list.  Some of them, I still make.
