This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[3rd Supplement] River in a Mountainous Landscape - I
« on: January 11, 2011, 07:24:43 AM »
It's finally done! Our very first product is online:

River in a Mountainous Landscape – I, the first map in our series Plans 'n' Places is there to download at RPGNow & DriveThruRPG:

If you buy it (Thank you!!), please let us know, what you are thinking about it!

Our maps are timeless, culture-free and system independent, and can be played on or populated by elves, agents, aliens, SWAT teams and, of course, any human hero of any epoch whatsoever.

High-resolution map (covering an area of 1500 by 1500 feet)

Map features: Elevations and contour lines, scale bar and grid (30 feet per square or hex) to toggle on/off

Vivid descriptions of chosen spots to outline the possibilities, together with story seeds

Additional versions of the map for customized printouts (no extra grayscale versions, for our maps print well in grayscale)

Selected 3D views for a better impression of the terrain

We haggled over the price with ourselves; it is now $ 3.45. There’s a lot more to find in our maps than just a map: It is thought through and crafted with passion for detail, and the artwork is supported with the same passion for story telling. We provide vivid description of the terrain’s features, together with story seeds in form of first-hand accounts from NPCs who “really were there!”

Check out the preview here, first.

Nicely done and very interesting. Are these publisher resources or for personal use only?

Thanks a lot, Peter! This pdf version is for personal use only.
We're thinking about a higher resolution version in jpg for publishers to use in their products.
Would you be interested in using such maps for your own products (btw, I like your clear and recognizable covers!)? If so, any wishes regarding pricing (viable ones;))?

Slightly revised version uploaded

We reacted to a reviewer’s concern and revised the navigation in our PDF’s page header. Originally, clicking on the running head led back to the introduction and contents. We thought this might come in handy, but at the same time, it might have been somewhat counterintuitive. Now, clicking on the running title “River in a Mountainous Landscape” leads straight to the main map. We still struggle with one of Adobe’s quirks concerning navigation: The backward button needs to be clicked twice to do its job. Some users might prefer hiding the bookmarks, so we didn’t want to drop this function completely: With the “limping” backward button, they still navigate faster, then.

It’s GM's Day Sale at DriveThruRPG & RPGNow!

25% off from our map, for example, but only until Monday, March 7th.

We really like the slogan the shop came up with: “No GM, no dice, better get him something nice…” Need not be our map; could be anything… but really, when did you last honor your GM’s service for the greater good of your circle of gaming friends?

Happy GM’s Day!
