This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I enjoyed this episode. I hope you guys still plan on doing some interviews though, as the one with Salvatore was a good one. I do like the round table discussion idea as well. My suggestion is save the interviews for big names like Salvatore (I would imagine it will be easier for you to attract other big names now that you have interviewed him) and use the round table for people who aren't as widely known (even if they are important designers in the hobby). Honestly that Salvatore interview was good. I've listened to a lot of RPG poscasts and the interviews range from good to terrible (with a lot of terrible ones out there). Your interview was one of the better ones I've heard in the gaming community (since you mentioned it in the podcast, I suspect it has to do with your background in lecturing). I definitely see it as a strength and recommend playing to it.

Due to demand and feedback from the question we had for you all back in Episode Fifteen this episode is all about Savage Worlds.  We go into detail about what the system does well, what the designers intended, how well they succeeded, and of course, how the system works for our group!

You should talk to us on Twitter, Facebook, our Forums, or email.

Episode Nineteen:  Tincture of Cream

This week we bring you a full episode review of our favorite game of the season: Castles and Crusades.  We have both had a long love affair with C&C, and played many a campaign.  We've modifed the system on occasion as well as adapted and created settings for it.  Mostly we talk about our love for the product, but we go over the incredibly rules-light engine in some detail.

Episode Nineteen is brought to you by all of you awesome fans!  We can't wait for Season Two!  Be sure to tell us about your excitement on Facebook, Twitter, our website, our Forums, or with email!  Season Two suggestions are always welcome.

Episode Eighteen: Savage Worlds!
I had hoped this episode would give me a better idea of how the Savage Worlds system actually works. Alas, it didn't. I keep reading it's fast furious fun but no one ever explains why exactly that is the case. Some of the available settings look interesting enough but what I've seen and heard of the system makes it seem rather fiddly which seems contradictory to the fast furious fun slogan.

So yeah, I did enjoy the episode as usual but would have liked a bit more actual system info.

It is hard to put your finger on it but I definitely find Savage Worlds fast and furious in practice. Combat is relatively simple and skills are all very basic (no massive entries like in 3e). I think the wild card thing is part of what makes it work the way it does. PCs and other major characters are special and always roll a d6 with their normal die for a skill. This has a huge impact on play (and definitely makes for a cinematic game). Hands down one of my favorite systems out there. But you kind of need to see it in action to appreciate it (and it certainly isn't for everyone). To me the game is moderately rules light. I'd say it has just enough crunch to achieve what it set out to do.

Pacing is a difficult subject, since it's something that appears at first glance to be a talent that sopme folks have and other don't.  This is a LIE!  We try our best to express some of the techniques we use to keep games flowing properly.  Mostly, of course, we GUSH about Hamlet's Hit Points, which is probably the best book ever written about pacing in GMing.  It's a really fantastic work for teaching a GM how to track their pacing.

Also, this is the final episode of the first seaon.  We are not going away, or going dark.  We'll have all sorts of stuff to post for the next few months.  We're soliciting feedback about what you'd like to see for season two!  You can talk to us about anything on Twitter, Facebook, our Forums, or via an email!
