This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

YouTube strikes again.
« on: July 06, 2021, 11:03:03 PM »
Well so long FuckYouTube.

I got caught in one of their covert purges and my account deleted for "repeated violations". Except I did not have any videos posted and this was the first had heard of anything amiss?

I'd heard of others getting their accounts deleted out of the blue. Guess was my turn. I cant even see comments now or block their damn woke 'suggested' videos.

Anyone else been hit by one of their purges?

Could it have been for comments you made, as opposed to videos?

Youtube is getting rid of people that built them up for Hollywood and News Media.  It will eventually doom YouTube as no one wants to watch the whores and liars.  It is time to use Bitchute, Odyssey, and Rumble.

I stopped using YouTube completely (for any recreational viewing). Odysee is a great alternative https://odysee.com/

I admit there's a number of channels on YT I follow for various entertainment purposes.

But people have been yelling at YT for a number of years about their ham-handed and inept management of copyright infringement as well as a complete inability to comprehend 'fair use'. Hasn't helped.

A number of channels don't even try to monetize at this point; they just get sponsorships or crowdfund via Patreon.

I think when Max Dood and Steve1989 move off the channel, I will too.

Even if you don't care about the hugely negative Ministry-of-Truth-like behavior Google/YouTube behave in (you should), YouTube is supremely unethical in how it behaves. Since 2016 with the "AdPocalypse" they've been lying to the faces of their audience & creators, stealing creators' work, breaking their own "Terms of Service," promoting actual sexual predators, and basically every other laundry list item you can imagine.

I ask every creator I follow to leave and join an alternative.

Nice!
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Even more interesting is that if you do not have an account you...

A: Can not see comments.
B: Can not block unwanted suggestion vids.
C: Can not view anything flagged as adult.
D: To apply to petition the account unblocked you have to supply your real name.

Makes me wonder if my comments on vids are gone too? Probably.
