SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Your top five!

That's funny, I wouldn't have pegged you as an Akira fan.

(Joking aside, it really is great RPG fodder.)
God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.

Windwalker - a low-key story of heroism. Fights with spears and stone clubs. Oh, fuck, a bear!

Seven Samurai - that was a harsh GM. Great PCs.

The Draughtsman's Contract - for making an era tangible, and for showing the ugliness behind beauty.

Persona - don't ask me why unless you want an essay, but it's one of my favourite films, so it must be influencing me in some way.

King Lear - the Peter Brooks version. It's cruel and brutal.

Quote from: David RAlways though you were a cool dude...and the listing of The Seventh Seal confirms it  (Alas the old master is gone and I doubt we wll ever see the likes of his kind again)

As for Oldboy, what can I say...except of have you seen the other films in the Sympathy Trilogy?

Regards,
David R

Hah, thanks. :)

I haven't seen the other two yet, but my buddy is getting them on DVD soon and we're going to watch them then. I've heard great stuff about them, and the idea of the trilogy - vengeance deadens the soul - really interests me.

Also, no one's mentioned them yet, but Takeshi Kitano films have been minor influences on how I game. It's impossible to recreate the cinematographic wonder of his movies through words, but many of the characters in his movies are trapped by their situation and filled with regret at not taking advantage of life while they had the chance. I've often found that to be an interesting undertone to add to characters when I'm playing.
