This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Why does Huckabee have to be such a uber-social conservative?

Quote from: RPGPunditJesse Jackson's "serious candidature" was a different level of seriousness than Obama's serious candidature.  Jackson never really had a real chance of winning the nomination of his party.   For starters, he had no experience in government.

That's not he impression that I had at the time.  At the time (rather than with the 20/20 hindsight that we have today), people thought he had a serious chance at the nomination, if not the Presidency.  Again, look at his performance on Super Tuesday in 1988.

As for experience, Obama's is pretty enemic, too.  That doesn't seem to be stopping the enthusiasm being shown for his candidacy, though.  But let me ask you this.  What do you think Obama's chances are of winning the nomination and, if he wins the nomination, the Presidency?  How about Huckabee?

Being an ordained minister isn't a problem.  Being a religious figure isn't the problem, its the "what" and "how" - an ordained Universalist Unitarian isn't going to offend anyone other than neocon extremist zealots.  Its the ones who believe your faith should guide each and every decision you make - that before you sign a bill into law you should consult the bible/koran/talmud etc etc for guidance, that you can't allow anything that is in any way shape or form counter to your religious way of thinking to occur in your country.

THATS the problem.  Jesse Jackson and Barak Obama don't think that way.  Huckabee does.  Pat Robertson did.

Do you understand what a "neocon" is?
