Darth Tang. Not only does he have a fantastically detailed approach to RPG campaigns which I could never hope to emulate in a thousand years, his off topic stories are bloody interesting as well.
The guy that springs to my mind is Paul Elliott (AKA Mithras), general historical gaming god, and (having gamed with him) a bloody nice bloke...
Of course, I can imagine a shitload of people with axes to grind making that a TAD difficult..
And they could be very right.
Also Third Level Fighter, unless of course you are Third Level Fighter, in which case welcome aboard :D
But yes, Mithras and Third Level Fighter would make great additions.
Wakshaani. The man is pure gold.
And I would very much like to get Brian Gleichman back, but I don't know how to keep him. Something about internet communication really gets his goat.
I doubt Dan would sadly
Then again, I might. ;) ...

...I don't know how comfortable a SwineRPGnetMod like myself will be here, but I figured I'd give it a chance, at least. ;)Are you kidding? See, the beautiful part is that you don't have to be a mod here. Honestly, people have stated with all sincerity that even Cessna would be welcome. He could actually talk games and relax a bit. In fact, I think I might just invite him. :)

I don't know how much I'll actually be posting here, given that (1) I have quite a bit of writing to occupy my time and (2) I don't know how comfortable a SwineRPGnetMod like myself will be here, but I figured I'd give it a chance, at least. ;)
And in any case, I sincerely appreciate the kind words, folks!

Welcome aboard, Dan.
!i!
Firstly, I'll add my voice to the chorus of welcome, Dan! Your reviews are top notch and judging from a friend's experience you are reported to be a great guy.
Secondly, I really think that you should invite Cessna to post here, Ian. The few times I have interacted with him he has been a really decent sort. And as you say, being in an environment in which he doesn't have the task of moderating and just talk games might be a welcome change for him.
Here's hoping.
TGA
Cessna is indeed cool, but I fear he'd be given so much crap by people with an issue with him being a mod on rpg.net as to make it not worth his time, precisely the fear I have with Dan actually.
If we could avoid that then it would probably work.
Totally. In fact I might just PM him over at the other place ...

Hey, Davenport!
Thanks very much, TGA!
Is this friend someone I met in person (presumably at GenCon) or online?
My friend recently contacted you about using some of your reviews in a newsletter for a sci-fi/gaming group and he told me you were very gracious about it. I know that he really appreciated it!
Oh, yes, I recall that! IIRC, I told him that I'd be honored, so long as doing so didn't violate any RPGnet rules.
Calithena.
Hiya, Rottie! How are the Eighties treating you these days? :)Bitchin' tubular.

Well, there's one way to find out...LOL! What a terrifically ballsy first post. :D

If Darth Tang had the time, he'd be an awesome addition. I mean, the dude ran a Hackmaster campaign. He definitely has an appreciation for tradtional play.
Not that I have anything against traditional play, I love it, but I'd just like to say I personally would welcome anyone who likes to roleplay. Whatever they use.
Doesn't make any difference to me if it's indie or mainstream, traditional or very experimental or anything in-between.
(Not saying it does for you but I personally felt like pointing that out explicitly)
wish I'd read this thread...i've been reading here for a few months but if I'd known I was a welcome commodity I would have signed up earlier!
See y'all around!
Well, there's one way to find out...Holy cats! Hello! I was still formulating a convincing e-mail to send you.
Thanks.
One thing, though. If you want to talk about that other rpgsite, send me an e-mail. I'd really prefer to just talk about gaming here, if that's possible.

Epic level troll.
There is no way this is actually Cessna.

Hey, I see Claudius has also joined! The Spaniards are coming! :D
Very soon, theRPGSite will be an Spanish - speaking place! ¡Agarraros los machos!
When the revolution comes, I would like to assert that while I am a US citizen, living in the Breadbasket of the US, and am monolingual, I am not only of some Spanish ancestry, but through fate itself was born in Spain.
Hopefully that can put me firmly on the protected list.
P.S. Jdrakeh - S.John Ross does post here.
Then again, I might. ;)
I'd like to see Britpackers like Spaulding, Pyat and Son of Kirk here...For what it's worth, I've fired an invitation over to the good Captain via a PM at tBP. I couldn't tell if he's currently frequenting the site, though.
¡Agarraros los machos!¿Y eso que quiere decir?
PS. Yes please to the offer to pm Darth Tang. Thankyou kindly.
¿Y eso que quiere decir?
Yo hablo Español, pero es de haber vivido en México en los 80. Y de eso, ya hace rato.
Mientras tanto...¡Síganme los buenos! O...lo que sea.
I think that Radical Authority is a great poster, and should be invited to join.
I hate that bastard.
Ned
Radical is a great poster and an awesome player, I've played with him a few times at cons and he is tremendous fun.
Currently still playing a massive D&D game which seems to go on forever from outside.
I guarantee that I know him better than you doCare to confirm or deny my theory (more likely with each passing post) that you are, in fact, that self-same Radical, have been posting under this other name here for some time, and couldn't resist the opportunity for fun?
There's a number of TBP britpack members but yes... you can always use more Brits. Might give the place a little class.

Or at least the illusion of class. I for one am a slob, a boor and a self aggrandising, morally vacuous toad. Were it 1259 AD I'd be royalty.
Compared to the Merkins you ARE royalty.
Has anyone mailed Old Geezer or Wakshaani?Geezer's lurked, and didn't like what he saw.

Didn't care for the lack of brown-nosing?
Seriously, Geezer's an interesting poster. A pity the site wasn't his speed.
How about more people from the UK?I contacted Captain Spaulding, but he declined. Rather explicitly, in fact. :deflated:

No, and I'm not familiar with him doing so elsewhere.

Not so sure about the invitations, but as I recall, Captain Spaulding was the primary motivation for Cessna banning himself last year. Or rather, Cessna's poor taste in Cowboy Pudding led to the righteous indignation of the good Captain, and said righteous indignation was the proximate cause of Cessna banning himself... or something.
Did he spin your invitation into an attack on gays? You're thinking of Curt the Hetrophobe, who I'm sure was the inspiration for a certain Little Britain character (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/littlebritain/characters/daffyd.shtml)

Furthermore, I've tabletop gamed with the good Catpain and he was a thoroughly decent bloke who didn't try and enforce a pro-gay agenda on us.Quite. I had no intention of inviting someone who didn't actually play rpgs, who didn't have anything constructive to say about them, and who would show up just to stir up arguments where they didn't exist before. The Captain (Catpain?!?) is good people and really knows his gaming. However, he has his admitted personality conflicts with a certain prominent member of this site, which is as good a reason as any to demure.

I've never seen Capt Spaulding play the Gay Card on RPGNet. Furthermore, I've tabletop gamed with the good Catpain and he was a thoroughly decent bloke who didn't try and enforce a pro-gay agenda on us.
Although, I did find myself tapping my foot to a Scissor Sisters song a few weeks later, so you never know.... ;)
That all sounds VERY confusing.
How did anyone keep track of any of that?

I'm quite interested in what the Wak plays, in fact. From what I've read the Wak seems like a smart, if bizarre, dude.
Though am I incorrect in my usage? I'd been lead to believe that the proper form of address is "the Wak", like "the Dude". :D
Yayyyyyyyy!! Wak is Back!

What *is* this place, anyway? Jong invited me and he drips with good Karma, so, here I am, but he kinda sorta neglected to tell me what the place was, so....
What *is* this place, anyway?Dude. It's my new hang.
Well, I tend to not talk about it much, strangely enough. It just never comes up.

I just emailed him to invite him :)
And this is why I have a shrine to you in my flat.
By the way, Emma and I are hoping to be in Madrid around the middle of April, are you?
Zomben, who just got banned from rpg.net but would fit in well here.man what
Zomben, who just got banned from rpg.net but would fit in well here.
Yes! Get the man over here! Zomben would be a great addition to the forums (as an aside, what was he banned for?).In short?
Called someone on perceived and likely bullshit, then back-talked the mods.Must have been some major bs, he always seemed pretty even going to me as well. Hopefully he will stop by soon and enjoy the place.
Somebody was being a dick, he gave them a deserved kicking, got a mod warning and rather unwisely dared them to ban him. They did for a month, so he PMed them and told them to permaban him, so they did.
So. . . when did they flip-flop on their official "We don't ban by request" position?I have a feeling that it's not what you say, but how you say it.
I'm tired of this pissy-ass shit on RPG.net where some asshole can come along and fling crap around, but nobody's allowed to call them on their crap without fearing the Mods.might be construed as the kind of request the mods enjoy fulfilling.

If Wak starts throwing 'tehs' around on here, i may just have to kill the bastard. :pimpdahoe:The Wak has big hands, and types at an angle, or so the story goes.
I'd love to see SMURF on here - from the SJG forums. He and I may disagree on politics and economic systems greatly - but he is REALLY into gaming, good movies and History.
You might even say he is my favorite socialist.
He and I used to have some pretty heated sparring matches about politics...then I discovered we tended to like the same movies. He then started sending me private mails that had NPC ideas for me.
Turned out to be a decent sort that I think I could game with at a table or even buy a beer for him.

An idea I had from another thread. Pretty simple. List suggestions of people you'd like to see join this forum. Who would make it interesting?
I'm going to start:
Dan Davenport
First, I just love his reviews. They are balanced, detailed and objective. This guy gives you a great idea of a game, even if you do not agree with his conclusions. I find he's a helpful reviewer and as a poster, I find him generally just as helpful and pleasant.
Zomben, who just got banned from rpg.net but would fit in well here.
You rang?
;)
We did!! Welcome here!
Thanks! Sorry it took so long... I was swamped last month, finally registered a few days ago, and then the spam filter ate my registration-confirmation email thingy.Glad you made it over man, even if I was broke I always enjoyed looking over the books you were getting rid of and wishing I had money. :D The rest of your posts were good too.
So, there you have it.
