This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Which suffix is least lame?

OK, so I'm trying to get a domain name for some homebrew stuff, and I found out that .net and .com are both taken for the name I wanted.  So, that leaves me with .org, .info, .biz, and .us.  I hate .biz outright, so which of the available suffixes would be least lame?*

*I fully appreciate the irony of asking about lameness while worrying about what web suffix to use for my homebrew RPG setting.

What's the domain name? I'd probably go with .info if you're posting information, since .org may confuse people about your purpose.

My homebrew world's name is Irrin, so I was going to go with //www.irrin.whatever.

Register it with an Indian Domain Name Service and you could have:  http://irr.in/

I'm impatient.  I went with .info. :)

That's a shame.

Anyway, .org is the only one on that list that isn't lame.  The others are pretty dire.

I'd have recommended .info.

I really hate the domain name hierarchy; at one time the suffixes actually meant something, but nowadays they just provide a method for selling the same domain name again and again, and causing confusion. Cf. whitehouse.org vs. whitehouse.gov.
