What are you watching?

BSG, Heroes,The Unit, Just started watching Stargate. Otherwise, i watch what the wife watches which is Top Chef, Top Model, Real World, and Roseanne.

Yes, I live in TV hell. I think she thinks the same when I watch my shows.:D

James McMurray

I somehow totally forgot BSG.

I also plan on watching The Dresden Files on the off chance it's a cool show. The Lost Room miniseries was goos, and if they make it a series I'll watch it too. Basically the Sci-Fi Channel is do much better than it used to. Odd that it started shortly after they changed their primary focus from horror to sci-fi. :)

Besides the cartoons I watch with my daughter the only show I follow is TNA iMPACT!, a weekly pro wrestling soap opera.

Did I mention The Shield? Of all the shows I watch it's my favorite. Shortly after I bought the first season I loaned it out to four people in turn. Each one sat down to watch the first episode with no expectations other than me telling them how badass the show was. They all finished the entire first season in marathons only broken up by work or gaming.

It's just that good.

I can't say that I'm going out of my way to watch anything on telly at the moment though I am watching the first season of The Muppets on DVD and I'm waiting for the second half of the first season of Supernatural to come through.

Gabriel

I bought season 3 and 4 of Knight Rider, the 7 season set of Star Trek: TNG, the ST: TAS box set, and completed my DVD set of Gundam Seed.  So, I'm bouncing around through episodes of all of those.

I haven't watched actual broadcast TV in 5 years.

You are a man of discerning taste. Well done!

Here's my top 10 (currently in production) TV shows list

1.  Prison Break (Interesting characters, how are they going to keep this up?)
2.  My Name is Earl (Surprisingly funny red-neckian comedy)
3.  The Wire (Best. Police. Show. Evar.)
4.  Doctor Who (Loved Eccleston, Warming to Tennant)
5.  Battlestar Galactica (Good to Great, but Cylon "culture" is beginning to bore me)
6.  The Office (Not better than the original, but finding a place of its own)
7.  The Shield (Second. Best. Police. Show. Evar)
8.  Day Break (Ok, I'm cheating...I did think it had promise)
9.  Lost (At the end of season 1, this would have been 1, At the end of season 2, it was probably at 3-4....This show is sliding down the top 10 moutain...enough with the fucking flashbacks get on with it)
10.Heroes (Good, this show would rocket up this list if they ditched the Ali Larter/Two-Face chick and her wunderkind.)

Other shows (that are barely hanging on)

11.  Torchwood (The Hi-C drink box version of Doctor Who.  Uh, remind me again what does this show have to do with Doctor Who?  Oh yeah, big war coming...or something....It's ok but my wife loves it)
12.  Sarah Jane Adventures (Uh...probably cool for kids....I can't see myself continuing to tune in)
13.  CSI: Whereverthefuck (I'm down to 1 (from 3) Las Vegas, and when the ditch Gil, I'll probably jettison that one too...Yippie!)
14.  30 Rock (Trying to be funny.....but.....not)
15.  24  (Why the fuck am I still watching this show...Oh yeah, Jack shoots innocents in the leg/arm/other appendage to get bad guys to talk)

Shows that have been thrown off the cliff

16.  House (Patient presents bizarre symptoms is referred to House.  Try something, patient gets worse.  People doubt House.  Try something else, patient gets better.  The End. Lather. Rinse. Repeat)
17.  Medium (Started off fun...now I'm bored).

The Shield is pure brilliance, I'm just not currently watching it.  The Wire I haven't seen yet, though shall in due course.

BSG I've seen seasons one and two and three ain't out yet, it's great but again I'm not currently watching it.

Oh right!  The kids shows!  I completely forgot!  And I go to such lengths to find shows that I can tolerate watching, and exclude the (many) shows that the boys would love at the expense of my sanity.

Kim Possible these days ... My Life as a Teenage Robot before that, and Powerpuff Girls before that.  My wife's comment was "If the boys grow up believing that only girls can be super-heroes you'll have nobody but yourself to blame."
Superheroes with heart:  Capes!

James McMurray

Oops, forgot kid shows too. That adds Avatar to the list (although my kids don't actually watch it religiously, I'm still calling it a kids show so I'll have an excuse).

Hey rcsample: the season finale of Torchwood has SPOILER

Captain Jack disappearing and TARDIS sounds in the background, so it looks like they're doing more Doctor Who tie-ins in the next season. Either that or Jack jumped ship and goes back to the Doctor, leaving Torchwood to plummet in the ratings and eventually spiral into nothingness.

Spoiler...

Captain Jack will turn up about halfway through the third series of Doctot Who but will be back in time for series 2 of Torchwood.

James McMurray

Cool. How much do those British actors get paid? In other words, is he making big bucks or just barely keeping his head about water in terms of hookers and booze?

Yeah, figured he'd show up soon (I'm a little over 1/2way through Series 2 of the new Doctor Who).

I like his character portrayal on Doctor Who better than on Torchwood...

James McMurray

Me too. Captain Jack on Torchwood falls into that (IMO moronic) idea of a "woe is me, I'm immortal" character. Captain Jack on Doctor Who would be all over it, and finding ways to use it to get laid.

Torchwood Captain Jack = Emo
Doctor Who Captain Jack = Pulpy Goodness

While I enjoy Torchwood, I like my "Doctor Who Universe" lighter...a la...go figure...Doctor Who.
