This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Today, SPIKE channel 2 or 3 of them back to back. It was interesting to see just how evenly matched the Viking vs. Samurai was. The Samurai won out but it was pretty close.

See... I'd ALMOST be interested in seeing that, but the unfortunate comparison to the much better Mythbusters, the questionable science and the idiotic 'teams' format (since, you know, there are no vikings or samurai or pirates or what have you to actually MAKE UP THESE TEAMS) sort of ruin the fun for me, and I don't need 50 minutes of pain for 5 minutes of payoff at the end.

I've got gaming for that ;)
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

It's mindless entertainment that I enjoy out of the myriad of mindless entertainment offered up to us on the legion of channels.

This is why I view select TV shows online, sans advertising.

Well, except for Lost. We watch Lost when it airs.

How can I get to watch the oldest episodes? I can only watch the current one: Knight vs Pirate
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Its probably a 'legal thing'.

Some shows and producers have rules written into their contracts that a current or new episode of a series can only be viewed online during a particular time window. The length of this time window varies from studio to studio and network to network. It also depends on demand and their guesstimate of how popular something might be and whether or not an eventual DVD release is planned.

Sorry for the possibly long-winded explanation.

Many thanks, pal. I feel it's a bad idea, now I have to look out for other sources. But it makes sense.

Agreed.

Now - if the manufacturers would only make North American and European VCRs and DVD Players to the same compatible standards. (!!)

 That would be really nice.

It would definitely help out when Americans or Europeans might want to give a gift of a DVD to their friends across the really big ocean.

In the case of VCR you're right it's a standard issue : NTSC vs PAL. The standard describes how the video is recorded on tape. The problem for DVDs is slightly different : there's an intentional incompatibility between geographical zones, the purpose being to make life difficult to pirates. But one could have a DVD player for each different zone their DVDs fall into. One can change the zone of a DVD player a few times before the feature locks.
