A bit of an exaggeration, I'll admit, since we don't have those creepy "sexy-talk" threads nor a gang of anal-retentive suckholes racing over to Trouble Tickets to discuss rules minutiae and dogpile on people who get banned.  But what we are starting to get is people who only post here.  It bums me out because it seemed like we had some new blood coming in, but it seems to have petered out, leaving only a few newbies who don't even seem to game at all (I'm looking at you CavScout).

I'm going to have to go with Kyle Aaron on this one.  Check your post history and get the fuck out of Off-Topic if this is the only place you spend your time here.  This is a roleplaying site.

I've been using FFVB to ignore threads in off topic for a while. Once the bile level rises to a certain point, I don't so much lose interest as I become actively repusled. I like just about everyone here,  regardless of their politics or the games they play, and it bruises my little unicorn heart to watch you all go at each other hammer and tongs.

Walker dude, I might agree with you - except I haven't seen 'Tangency' in so long that its difficult to make a scientific comparison.


 You may have a point tho.


 Maybe being at the party room with some of them has mellowed me out too much. C.W., Tehana, and Tokezo Tekken & Tokezo Hime were really nice in person.

Do you play RPGs? It's inauspicious to begin one's posting career with a bunch of off-topic posts about the political garbage here instead of about RPGs.

This may come down to a different definition of "Trouble." But whatever; I'm certainly not advacating any sort of official action. After all, we all have access to ignore lists and ffvb and things like that.

In my personal experience with forums, particularly roleplaying forums, it's very common to have people only peripherally interested in gaming, or gaming discussion, or posting to gaming discussion - remember, there's no statistic for "RPG lurker, off-topic poster" - who spend most or all of their time in the off-topic section of the site. I've never known it to detract from the roleplaying discussion; most of the time I've seen that, it's people who post to both sections who take friction out of the off-topic section and into their roleplaying discussion.

Suppression of off-topic posters, like most suppression in online conversation, ends up being counter-productive, again, speaking solely from my experience.

I'm not asking for "suppresion" or any kind of administrative action.  I'm just pointing it out.  It seems to me to be on the increase a bit in the last month or so.  Maybe some people (myself included) could put a little more effort in posting to roleplaying sections instead of here, that's all I'm saying.

I haven't used it to strip any users, but I do use it to strip away threads (always in OT, it seems) where the bile level gets too high for my delicate sensibilities.
