This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I swear this happened last night.... not a joke.

Trying to do some inspirational read for a campaign I was re-reading Call of Cthulu last night and fell asleep a bit before midnight. I was woken by my wife a little after midnight by my wife telling me that there was some complete stranger stranger in my house in the middle of the night looking for some long lost sister. No phone, no internet, no idea where this person lived.

First thought... crap, is this nightmare?
Second thought.... is my wife nuts letting some nut in our house in the middle of the night?
Third thought... is this dude a loon or trying to get shot knocking on doors in the middle of the night looking for long lost people?

I secured the 9mm to help me a certain the sanity of this situation.

Sure enough, dude in my living room. I live in the woods, like on the back side of a mountain, no signals to the point where we will be some of the last Americans with a land line because we have no cell signal. (Ironically I sell fiber optic cable for cell towers among other things to make a living).

He was young though and I didn't think he was cracked out so I didn't actually pull the gun out of my back waste band... but damn dude..are you trying to get shot? It is the wee ours of the morning and you have some bat shit crazy story just this side of a ghost story. Gave him the best directions I could and got rid of him post haste....

Morale of the story? Don't fall asleep reading "Call of Cthulu". I didn't sleep worth a damn the rest of the night.

My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

If there were causality between what you read and what you woke up to, what would the best choice have been? "How to Be a Billionaire"?

But not too much Tolkien -- it might be hobbit forming.
