Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Or you end up with something like the horrible CGI Captain Harlock or the equally horrid live action versions of Yamato and Gatchaman which just short if have nothing to do with the originals. Especially Harlock and Gatchaman.

Yeah I haven't seen ether of those and at least for the Yamato and Gatchaman I have no intention too. I might watch Harlock but its not likely.

Save yourself the pain.

Hell, even Syd Mead's Yamato 2520 was better than the live action movie...

Picked up the first dozen or so episodes on VHS wayyyyy back. Fan translation? Also got Starship Troopers OVA and some other stuff while at GenCon.

To my knowledge Dougram's never been officially ported to the US? And quite a few Japanese producers are ok with fan translations till a series gets picked up officially for US release.

Another  one saw at GenCon was Legend of Galactic Heroes. In German, which seems the only export of it?

yeah dougrams never had an official release so the eps are fan subbed. As to Legend of Galactic Heroes my understanding is that it had A US release though it seems rather rare kind of like the adv release of aura battler dunbine.

Voros

Netflix had the film version of the Berzerk manga up for a bit. Good gonzo stuff that manages to be about something amid the mayhem and exploitation.

Still a shame we never got the CGI Gatchaman from Amigi, which was supposed to be their follow up to Astroboy

It wasnt. I sat through the whole thing and it has a few nods to the original. And thats about it.

Same with the live action Space Battleship Yamato. Except that one stayed a little more true to the source. While still going totally off the rails. Gatchaman just went off the rails faster and further.
