This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Picking up guitar again

Hopefully this is the right forum for this. The thread on non-rpg hobbies led me to pick up my guitar again when I realized how much I miss playing music.

My first love was always music. I grew up around music (pretty much everyone in my family plays an instrument). For years I took guitar and piano lessons, and even considered going to Berkley before settling on writing (and to this day I somewhat regret not going the other direction).

However it has been ages since I've taken my of its case, and I noticed it all came back very quickly (like riding a bike).

Rhythm has never been my strong suit as I was always more of a lead player. For some reason, if a song is in 3/4 or 6/8 time I noticed I can play and sing it with ease. But when I've tried to play something in 4/4, am having a great deal of difficulty playing and singing at the same time. It is like I have to think about the timing and get confused. This is kind of strange since it was never really a problem before and 4/4 is usually thought of as simpler and more intuitive than 3/4.

But feels good to be picking it up again.
