Title: "The Hobbit" trailer

This looks really good, so far! I love the fact that they have the dwarves singing. That's one thing I believe was missing from the LOTR movies.

All the characters look good, even Thorin, though the nerd-rage is kicking into full gear since he's not grey-bearded and doesn't have a blue hat. I think anyone who bitches about that should have his right to see the movie revoked, so he will never actually know if the movie is good or not.

The one funny bit I saw was it looked like Galadriel and Gandalf were about to make out. :rotfl: I'm wondering what part she has in this, as she was not in the book. Maybe it's a cutaway scene to one of the many times Gandalf abandons the group.

I do like how they make Gollum look quite sinister, considering how pathetic he was in the LOTR movies.

Apparently, they decided to include the actions of the White Council and Gandalf surrounding the business of Dol Guldur and the Necromancer as described in the appendices of the LOTR. Since the Ring is there, we see the shards of Narsil in the trailer, Gandalf seems to visit the ruins of the tower there, and Galadriel is part of the Council, it's a safe bet to say that the resurgence of Sauron and the Ring will be more than just a footnote (or an afterthought) in this movie as they originally were in the book. It'll be an underlying theme here.

Can't wait for these movies to come out. I've already penciled in a two-day holiday in 2014 so I can watch all 5 movies (Hobbit 1 & 2, LotR), extended editions hopefully. I have no idea why I'd want to do that to myself, but I'm gonna, you wait and see.

Looking good.

Be interesting to see how they explain Anakin's turn to the Dark Side.

Dwarves singing for the win. This looks great.

I haven't seen this film, not even the trailer, but I hate it because its not what I imagined the book to be like in my own private idaho. How dare they not perfectly capture my pristine perfect princess vision in all its own glory?

It was ok but I was more interested in the Dark Knight Rises trailer on the link.

Batman vs. Bane will rock, but 2012 is all about Prometheus.

Next year is going to be flat-out amazing for films.

John Carter, Hunger Games, Avengers, Prometheus, Dark Knight Rises, Lincoln, The Hobbit.

And then there's the geek candy: Underworld: Awakening, Mirror Mirror, Wrath of the Titans, Men in Black III, Snow White and the Huntsmen, GI Joe: Retaliation, Battleship, Amazing Spiderman, Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, Resident Evil: Retribution, Dredd, World War Z, Red Dawn, Great Gatsby.

Although, of course, the real crown jewel is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II. Ain't nothin' more excitin' than that.

Dark Knight Rises doesn't look very Batmanesque to me.

The storyline for Dredd is purportedly just a retread of Die Hard. I don't know if Anderson uses her psi abilities, but i would hope some of the weirder aspects of the setting get used. Unfortunately no Judge Death. What about the Angel Gang?

Some of us are quite grateful about that fact.

I don't understand why anyone doing a Dredd movie would ignore 99% of what makes the setting adn the character what it is in favour of what could well be a bland action movie.
You don't need Judge Death, but there's a whole panoply of iconic villains to call on instead of just a gangbanger.

I didn't even know there was a new Dredd movie. And the first pics of  Karl Urban in Judge drag looks pretty cool. Start small and then introduce the big guns (like J. Death) in the sequels.

the film needs to encompass the dystopian future shock thatcher inspired fascist police cop that is Dredd. Not just be a shootout in an abandoned apartnment block in Big City. Though lack of Rob schneider is a massive plus.

Has much been released from Dredd for this rush to negative judgment?

The only stuff I've seen is some blurbs saying "this is going to be more faithful to the comics" (hard not to accomplish that) and screenshots of Urban looking awesome in the Dredd costume.

Apparently the script was leaked.

Probably just barely if you round each extended edition up to three hours, and I assume there'll be extended editions of the Hobbit films too.

Looks like I picked the wrong decade to give up cocaine.  :P
