The trouble with both Punisher films is they allow Frank Castle to avenge the deaths of his family - and then he carries on killing.  So he's as bad as they are.  
The comic origin differed in that he can never avenge them because he doesn't know who killed them beyond "Mob goons", so he goes on and on until they (the mob and their like) are all gone and he's won, or he's dead and it doesn't matter anymore.  

Much more tragedy and depth to be plumbed from the comic take than the movies insistence to have it all wrapped up within 2hrs.

I have to agree with that. Same problem with the Batman movies.

 As long as he does a good job and the script is good - then it might be worth seeing.
I'm one of those that like "LOST", and thinks that Mission Impossible III would've been better without Tom Cruise.

I'm kind of jaded on TREK.  (Believe it or not)

Hoping it will be worth 7 to 8 bucks when it gets to the screen.

I enjoyed Lost (I'm not sure it's formula is the one to copy or mimic here...) , and I'm certainly no Tom Cruise fan, or for that matter a die hard Trek fan-I lost interest right after TNG-but I'd like to see what they'll do.

I'm a sucker for seeing how they reinvent a franchise. It's why I'll see the next Hulk movie, and Punisher movie.

Heard that Nimoy's going to be in the movie too. Mom didn't recall where she hears it, though, and I can't seem to google a source. But that makes me happier. Sylar just isn't making me want to go see the new movie.

I thought Matt Damon was a good choice for Spock.  But at the same time, I think casting a really BIG name actor is probably a bad idea.  If the franchise reboot is a success, you want all the main characters to be prepared to stick around.
 
So someone like Quinto is an excellent choice - he has a moderate profile due to his work on heroes, but he's hardly a mega star.  And Gary Sinese as Bones is... visually speaking at least... perfect, just perfect.

Beyond mere visuals, Gary Sinese is capable of conveying that extreme ernestness that was so integral to the character.  I think the intensity he could bring to the portrayal would be more important than simple appearance.  As for the age discrepancy between Sinese and the other (presumed) actors, I always had the impression that Bones, though being a very good friend of Kirk's, was considerably older and not exactly a contemporary.  Remember that Kirk was a prodigy, the youngest person to ever captain a starship in Federation history*, so pretty much everyone is older than him.

We know that J.J. Abrams likes to re-use actors..... SO, the possibility of Nathan Fillion showing up is a good one. (He guest-starred on "LOST" last season)

What part should Terry O'Quinn play ? (The guy that plays Locke) On  "Alias" he played a recurring character and on ST:TNG he played a starfleet admiral.

Agreed on both points. I think Sinise would be a great actor to play McCoy. And yes, I think Bones was supposed to be a bit older the Kirk. At the very least, Deforest Kelly was older than Shatner (ten or eleven years I believe). Gary Sinise is about 15 years older than Matt Damon, but he looks pretty good for his age. Having said that, I don't think Damon would ever seriously consider the role.
